The 9/11 hijackers took plenty of flying lessons, months in advance before boarding the airliners, slitting the throats of the flight attendants and pilots, and murdering 1000's of people.

Before that, they were merely guys trying to learn how to fly a plane ( though not land, oddly ) and go about their average, every day life.
