This is the Daily Mials perspective so not exactly grass roots, but you may find it interesting to see what people outside the USA think.

America loves a winner!

EMP Daniel Hannan seems to be fond of the TEA Party.

Quote:

British Tea Party Movement to launch on Saturday

Labour has raised more than a trillion pounds in additional taxation since 1997. Yet, unbelievably, Gordon Brown has still managed to run up a deficit of 12.6 per cent of GDP (Greece’s is 12.7 per cent). A far lower level of taxation brought Americans out in spontaneous protest last year.

If you happen to be coming to the Conservative Spring Conference, do please pop in: the Tea Party is five minutes’ walk from the conference venue. It is, however, outside the security zone, and anyone is welcome to come. Oh, and this being England, we’ll be serving actual, you know, tea. I hope to see some of this blog’s readers there.

The tea-baggers, a view from reality:

The modern definition of "socialist" is anyone who's winning an argument against a tea-bagger.

Fuck you, you cock sucking community activist piece of shit.

Mike,

You're hitting an all time class low. I think the substance of your rhetorical device is impeccable. I take it that this means we're winning.

Meanwhile...

‘This is a hostile takeover of the Republican Party’.

That about sums it up. Also, may I say, the Tories are fucking awesome. I want to bring what they have, here. We need that kind of conservatism. If we can turn the GOP into that, great. If not, let's be a centrist third party.

Oh, and as for winning, it beats the hell out of losing.

DT: That's the level of debate the tea-baggers around here have offered: pure shit. Don't step in it, or you might track it inside.

Don't like it? Talk to "your side".

As for "winning", I'm not sure I take your meaning. You think the tea-baggers are winning? Is there going to be a tea-bagging majority in Congress? Are tea-bagging bills going to be written and passed, and then signed into law by President Obama?

What constitutes a "win" for the tea-baggers?

Us vs. Them.

...You know, I've turned my head every which way looking at it. I think that DT was complimenting you? Perhaps he thought you'd be proud if he said you were muckracking admirably ("impeccable"), which you've self-professed you enjoy. But hells if I know.

It's the astonishing ignorance of the Tea Party candidates, particularly when it comes to things like The Constitution or the causes and events of the Boston Tea Party, that is so extraordinary. I expect when these candidates get elected, we'll probably see a similar thing as to what happened here where members of the BNP, a racist party in the UK, were elected to control a town council, largely in protest against foreigners coming over here, taking our jobs, yada yada.

They were so uniformly incompetent and corrupt that they were promptly kicked out at the next election. Granted, they didn't have the cheerleading of Fox News on their side but even that can only cover so far.
