WHootttttt

Kwicko, I formally condemn your mother for not aborting you. Yeah, I'm sure her brother was happy to have a son, but you are inexcusable....

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Yup - Joe Miller's dropped to THIRD in Alaska.

Chris Coons is up by over 20 point over Christine O'Donnell.

Boxer is ahead of Fiorina.

Brown is WAY ahead of Whitman.

Harry Reid may be out as Senate Majority Leader; hopefully the Dems will put someone in place with some real cajones.

Murray is up in Washington.

Manchin is well up in West Virginia.

Gillibrand - who was picked as an easy win for the right, is now up more than 20 points in New York.

The modern definition of "socialist" is anyone who's winning an argument against a tea-bagger.

DREAMTROVE

Damn it. Gillibrand is not a victory for the left. She's solidly to the right, and her republican opponent is solidly to the left of her. Gillibrand is pro-war and drill baby drill, Joe Dioguardi is the anti-war, pro-environment anti-FED candidate here.

It's tricky, if you think in terms of team colors, it can play tricks on your eyes.

Also, even if a candidate like Reid is to the left of Angle, Angle in that seat would have no power, and Reid would wield tremendous power, and I don't think that any progressive could possibly think that Reid is an asset to the Dems. He's almost single-handedly sunk the progressive agenda, first and foremost, the public option. It was his decision to can reconciliation to pass the public option, only to instate it for the very next bill to pass Obamacare, which is not even a democrat bill, it's Mitt Romney's bill.

So, winning these two races would hurt what you believe in.

Not saying that the republicans aren't doing the same things in other races, I'm sure they are. Some people out there who are calling themselves "Tea Party" are pro-FED.

I found two candidates saying that we should actively pursue nuclear war with Iran. WTF?

Think. Don't trust labels. Anyone can declare themselves Tea Party at the drop of a hat, and it's not much more difficult to declare yourself Green or Libertarian, and if you have money, it's probably easier to declare yourself Democrat or Republican. One of our candidates was gunning for the democratic and republican nominations at the same time!

The question here is not how many senate votes team blue or team red ends up with, it's how many team war, or team debt, or team oil, or team police state ends up with.

We have two nominal democrats without a liberal bone in their body as Senators here, they're both corporate whores, and new yorkers vote for them the same way they voted for Hillary, because they just don't *think*. If you ask nothing from a democrat but that they be on the Blue ticket, pretty soon you'll have the ideological clone of G.W. Bush on the democratic ticket, assuming that's not what we've already elected to the white house.

ETA:

Carly Fiorina is a criminal.
Meg Whitman is a nitwit.
Christine O'Donnell is a witch.

The only one of those I really fear is Fiorina, who is pretty scary. Okay, Meg Whitman is pretty much a loser too, not that her competition is great. I don't have any thoughts on O'Donnell, she's clearly trying to lose. I don't even know who she's running against.

DREAMTROVE

My current voting line up:
1 Republican
2 Democrats
3 Greens

There are a disproportionate number of lunatics out there, and my scanning didn't show them as more in the tea party than elsewhere, but not less so either. The candidates are just much more insane than they've been.

"Let's nuke Iran" isn't a campaign platform, it's what the crazy guy on the street corner yells.

Oh, I don't really mind losing Reid as Majority Leader. I've called for it more than once - I just didn't think I'd get my wish quite THIS way! Careful what you wish for, and all that...

Angle in Reid's seat gets her just about zero power, and I've little doubt she'll be laughed out of the seat in 6 years *IF* she holds on for the win in the first place. But Reid getting moved out of the way might make room for someone decent to take over as Majority Leader.
