Sign of the times of how skint we are, when we have to share Aircraft Carriers with the French. Historical enemies that are now sharing Armed Forces. My heart tells me " No Fucking Way ", but my head says. "Good Idea". I'd rather be allies with our nearest neighbours than in the pocket of the US War Machine.

We still have independent fleets - we're just making aircraft carriers/nuclear testing facililities available to the other partner, thus saving money. And a joint expeditionary force might increase sovereignty as I see it, as we might be less dependent on US approval and assistance when we want to act in our own national interest.
