Everyone should see the CSI episode that aired last night called "Fracked"

http://www.tv.com/video/10498342/csi--fracked

And then forward it to other people you know.

This is a very well executed scientific and realistic portrayal of a very major environmental and human problem. Bad mining by international commodity finance has leveled more territory, detonated more explosives and killed more people on its attack on the USA than the USA's attack on the middle east, a policy coordinated by the very same international financiers.

We are under attack, but not by terrorists. The real threat is here. CSI delivers an entertaining well written drama that simultaneously does an impressive job of explaining the science and humanity of this very important issue.

Kudos to Bruckheimer and co. and to CBS for running it.

It's not just a preachy documentary, it's an entertaining hour, and realizes the complexity of the problem, I highly recommend it.

Track down the HBO documentary "Gasland" if you can. Not sure if it's out on DVD yet.

ETA: Amazon says it's due for DVD release on 12/14/10.

The modern definition of "socialist" is anyone who's winning an argument against a tea-bagger.

Sig,

I know how you feel, did you watch the ep?

Mike

I've seen pieces of it. CSI nicely pulled out stuff directly from there, and put it into an entertaining format, and then delivered it to 14.5 million people. That's fairly impressive.

I'll watch gasland later. Of course, you realize that these documentaries, and I've seen others, have a kind of self selective audience. The nice thing about something like CSI doing this is that it hits mainstream america, not just ultraskeptics like ourselves.

Anyone think that this is connected to blue gold conspiracy at all?

DT, I can't watch streaming network shows because I am outside of the USA. They shut it down when they detect a foreign IP address. And I don't have VPN, obviously.

Where can I find more info about this? Thanks.

Where are you?

You can see it on some pirate network. If you mean the subject, Mike's suggestion of gasland is a good one.

Good point. Nice when it's subtly worked into a "mainstream" show like that. I just can't really stand any of the CSI shows, though. But I'll see if it's available in the on-demand lineup.

Oh, I've known about "fracking" for quite a while. I don't need CSI to catch me up, although I'm gratified to see it mentioned on MSM. (Didja notice they didn't end the story?)

The shit they do to extract that one last ounce/ cubic foot from a deposit.... injection of radioactive tracers, in situ fires, bioengineered injections, deep well injection of toxic waste... Deepwater Horizon is just the tip of the iceberg. Been involved in several emergency responses and many many complaints related to "secondary recovery". Also know someone who knows someone living and fighting on the front lines of the water wars: Cochabamba. Bechtel has SUCH an interest in monopolizing water they made collecting rainwater illegal.

If people knew what was going on behind the scenes, they'd be terrified. Good for them they live with blinders on (That's you, Rappy.)

I quoted this to someone else last time someone posted it, I don't know if was you, but at any rate, the person I quoted it to say "cite?" so I have say to you "cite?

ETA: CSI does such a good job on this one that it's likely to contain new information. I'd done a ton of research on this because it was in my backyard, and I don't know that there was stuff I hadn't already dug up, and the only technical slip I noticed was they said it was likely fracking fluid (aka slick water) which did *not* wash back which was contaminating the groundwater. While this is a possibility, it's much more likely that the fracking fluid which *did* come back is just being poured into the ground water. At any rate, it's getting in there.
