I won't defend Wulf when he's wrong, hell, he knows I very rarely defend him at all. But we were discussing the finer points of ethics:

1) Wulf's is a personal insult. That's different from an epithet. "This commie" would have been an epithet.

2) It's an obvious godwin and you should call him on it.

3) It's not a contest. If someone says you're a hag, and then someone else says I suck balls, it's not like I haven't been offended just because you have also been offended. This isn't even two wrongs don't make a right, because you and wulf have nothing to do with me and mike.

You can disagree all you want, but it's actually up to the offended to be offended, not up to the offender. If it were, then I could name call all I wanted and dismiss anyone's complaint that they were offended.

Personally, I just think calling people names is a moronic thing to do, as it discredits your entire argument. Working with the Tea Party doesn't give me any great affinity for them, I'm not about to say "I'm a Tea Partier" or be really bothered by "teabagger." I'm just using it as an example of a pretty simple rule: Glass houses, stones?

Just in general, I think that this is getting us nowhere. If anything, a simple rule, before posting anything, should be: Does this flamewar make me look vile?
