From time to time, we find ourselves all agreeing on something. Here is a list to celebrate our common ground.

1. Firefly is an awesome show.

2. Jessica Alba is hot.

3. TSA has gone way overboard with AIT/enhanced pat downs.

4. USA sending tanks to Afghanistan (or did I misinterpret this one)?

Please correct me if I am in error. Please feel free to add to the list.

Hello,

Perhaps also that Nathan Fillion is a pretty cool dude?

I'm not sure everybody agreed about the tanks.

#3 - I don't think the TSA has done enough, and what they have done they have not done well enough. It's a pretty good example of "when government agencies solve problems."

#5. I don't have a list handy, but it strikes me as odd that anyone can disagree with the basic tenants of the Tea Party. Less gov, balanced budget, etc... who doesn't want those? Must be something else in the mix.

Anthony,

Certainly we love Nathan Fillion. That probably goes under #2 though, to be fair.

#2. Jessica Alba is hot; Nathan Fillion is cool.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello Pizmo,

Some people would like to see an increase in universal services provided as a parachute to the citizenry. These people would argue for an increase in the size of the Federal government that would offset decreases in other areas. Hence, a net decrease in the size of government would not be their objective. These people would merely trade X agency for Y agency.

Perhaps it's "less gov through more efficient gov." I know, it's hard not to chuckle.

"Some people would like to see an increase in universal services provided as a parachute to the citizenry."

If you are referring to Health Care I think the only reason so many people want to see universal HC and have the gov involved at all is because the private sector (Big INs) has so royally screwed us, and people are finally saying enough, what are our options.

I'm not aware of other universal services that people are asking for...

Hello,

Health Care is the Universal Service foremost on my mind, though the Nation has a few that some Tea Partiers would like to dispense with. The FDA, DEA, and Department of Education among them. Some people I've spoken to would like to see Social Security dissolved and reimbursed to investors. Socialized utilities have been discussed at more than one interval, i.e. the government runs the power production and distribution.

Some people like a robust government to meet the needs of the populace.

Nobody likes an ineffective government, but few can agree on how to make it effective.

One of the drivers for 'small government' folks is the belief that at the end of the day, government can't manage things very well, and so we ought to give them as little to do as possible. Another is that government can't be trusted with too much authority. Another is that all government authority results in the use of force by the government against the people, and a consequent desire to minimize such occurances.

Perhaps if you are looking for a universally agreeable metric, you could say that Everyone Wants a Better Government, and leave it at that. It's hard to get two people to agree on exactly how the government could be made better, even within the same party.

America loves a winner!

I'm still up in the air on the tanks thing.

Haven't heard the 'why' yet. But if you're suppose to be the hopey changey President, and you ran on ending the over seas wars, I gotta ask...wtf are you thinking ?
