When will we have world peace?
When lions stop hunting for food.

When will poverty end?
When we spend more money on life than death (the world peace thing again).

When will we find true happiness?
That's more of a problem of focus than reality, IMO.

My question for y'all here is: are we meant to GET somewhere in this life- on this Earth? Or are we meant to simply keep flyin' as best we can, and love along the way?

Someday people will look back at our age with disdain for a day when people fought wars to kill and destroy. These people who look back will also fight wars, but the loss of life and destruction of the Earth will seem utterly pointless to them. It will be as it is when we look back at imperial Rome, from our sports arenas with football matches we remark upon the barbarous throwing of Christians to lions, and the like. We do the same thing, of course, in our sports of leisure, it's just *how* we do it that has changed.

That's assuming that the future we have, but somehow I think not. Phasers on kill? Photon torpedoes? Roddenberry's new world socialism is a pretty violent place where one world govt becomes just like the US and pushes the rest of the universe around by superior force, unless they're beaten to it by soviet Klingons.

I see a future in which death and destruction are a liability to everyone. Deathswill still happen, but tragic like a sports accident.

I don't think that's going to happen, yet somehow we managed to move away from ritual sacrifice and death match sports arenas, I think there's hope.

It's important to remember that our wars are not just a transference of these other forms of violence, that primitive societies also had pointless genocidal wars.

Human flaws will always exist, they just need to be transferred into something less destructive.

IMHO.

I think this might represent a difference in world view. I don't expect a revolution that changes humanity, but I'll accept little changes.
