Wulf, what is your problem? Yeah, I know you've taken your lumps here on the board, but it's an issue you could easily solve by coming up with something cogent. So you grab an instance of what a single person says, and use it to characterize a whole group of people? Did you ever occur to you that maybe this guy isn't a flaming gay, but he IS a flaming conservative, and that the reaction he gets from people has more to do with his behavior than theirs? Or do you just like to exercise rabid intolerance for the helluvit?

'Cause right now, all you're doing is proving that Wulf is more intolerant of liberals than gays.

Yes.

Remember, he's the one who said we're only here to try and one-up each other; he has no desire to post cogent material, only find excuses to say negative things about all libs, dems, Obama, etc., and anything will do for that purpose.

...but you already knew all of that...

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

I think White Males and Christians are well tolerated in society currently.

Anything labeled Socialist or Communist is not well tolerated.

Gun Control has been rather absent during this administration, to my unremitting surprise.

Political Correctness has been plaguing our nation through multiple administrations of varying types, and seems unlikely to go away. Some of this is good, some of it not-so-much. Some people have been niggardly in their wisdom and enlightenment, and this has caused unwarranted problems.

Environmentalism has been a presence for decades. I seem to recall that all of these self-disintegrating plastics actually came to being in my lifetime, as the result of public concern. Unleaded gasoline probably preceded me by a bit. I'm sure there are other things. I think environmentalism is mostly positive.

Feminism is something we can be thankful for. It was a band of feminists that got the vote, if I recall, though they called themselves something else at the time. This society was quite male dominated once. It is less so now, and we can thank the pesky feminists for much of that. As in any political group, there will be people who take it to extremes. But by and large, the Feminism movement has had a positive impact.

Obamacare... is not what was advertised. I hope it is largely disassembled. I fear we will be stuck with its worst aspects. Time will tell.

Anthony- Thank you for taking the time to respond to Wulf so kindly and in detail.

Gun Control.- Shouldn't exist.

ObamaCare.- There are parts I hate, especially the part that enforces private insurance coverage. What a friggin' joke. That's not socialism, that's fascism.

Political Correctness.- Is there a problem with being respectful of others?

Socialism.- It's your salvation, brother. Don't knock it.

Communism- I have no idea what this is. It's never existed according to the official definition.

Dicrimination (At least against white males).- Really? Seems that white males still have quite an edge. Just look at Congress. How about if we just rail against ALL discrimination. and go for a true meritocracy?

Religious Intolerance (At least against Christians).- Hey, I'm intolerant of ALL religions. In any case, Christians still have quite an edge. Again, just look at Congress. "God Bless America" is a sure vote-getter.

Feminism.- It's all about equal rights. Got a problem with equal rights?

Environmentalism.- Oh, we should all tolerate pollution? For god's sake, what have you got against keeping the world a nice place to live?

Gun Control.

Can you give us some examples of Obama's overreaching on gun control? Some piece of Draconian legislation he's signed into law, perhaps?

Quote:

ObamaCare.

So you're AGAINST buying health insurance from private corporations?

Quote:

Political Correctness.

No kidding. Remember how the GOP all laughed when Obama made a remark about "putting lipstick on a pig"? Me neither. I remember them getting bent out of shape about it and claiming that it wasn't politically correct. (Of course, they also said that about Bill Maher's show, which was CALLED "Politically Incorrect" - and he's hated by conservatives everywhere for not living up to THEIR standards of political correctness...)

Quote:

Socialism.

You mean like the VA and the GI Bill, right? The idea that we take taxpayer money and give special rights and privileges to those who don't pay their fair share in taxes? Or churches and clergy, who are in essence government-sponsored, since they pay in nothing to the tax base?

Quote:

Communism.

Examples, please?

Quote:

Dicrimination (At least against white males).

I assume you mean "discrimination", and not some made-up word about white males not being eligible to be criminals or something. Can you show me any studies or cites where white males are being systematically discriminated against, kept out of businesses and jobs, and where their unemployment rate or rate of incarceration or criminal conviction outstrips other groups? If you're going to cite the talking points the GOP hands you, I'd like to at least know you've done your research and thought about the things you say, after all.

Quote:

Religious Intolerance (At least against Christians).

Again, can you show examples where Christians have been targeted as intended recipients of discriminatory behavior, where Christians have been forbidden to put up a church, or where their holy books are routinely burned, or under threat of same?

Quote:

Feminism.

I get that you're against women having the same legal rights as men. I really do. I don't *understand* it, but I get that you really, really feel that way.

I think this might be the first time I've seen someone come out AGAINST the environment. That's a fresh take on things.

With the caveat that anyone posting on a thread like this needs to get a chromosome check, I just wanted to kibitz something Anthony said:

Christians are well tolerate and socialists are not?

FLDS, Waco, ring any bells? Last time I recall any anti-communist activity it was McCarthy, and it was treated as some sort of great Satan, but let's face it, that intolerance cost some people in the 50s their jobs. Intolerance of today costs people their lives.

The main christian group under attack is Catholics, who are being killed in much larger numbers than anyone cares to admit.

ETA: Gotta appreciate the irony that I'm arguing against you by standing up for your religious group, and not mine. Taoists? No one has even noticed that we're here. Jews? Well, I'd have to confess if there's such a thing as an *over*-privileged minority...

You're FOR discrimination? You might want to find a better way of phrasing that bit. Also, it's cute that you don't want anyone blaming YOU for THEIR shit, while you constantly, every single day, blame THEM for YOUR bullshit. Well, until 2009, legally, in the workplace. A woman could be paid substantially less than a man for doing the exact same job, whatever that job might entail. It still happens, of course, but now there's a federal law that allows more time for equal pay lawsuits to be brought forward.

Teddy Roosevelt was a bit of an environmentalist; so was Audubon. And Thoreau. And even Nixon, who brought us the EPA (at the behest of the "hippies", no less!)

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

"Socialism and Communism: Those who advocate either philosphy deserve exactly what happened to Hitler (and his Nazis), as well as Stalin."

I'm assuming you are advocating death here, since that is what ultimately befell most of these people, by various causes. (In some cases natural death of old age.)

What I find interesting is that you are saying people who advocate the philosophy of Socialism are deserving of death. A death penalty for pursuing a philosophy.

"Religious Intolerance: We are a Christian nation, like it or not. Plus, atheists are the saddest, angriest, most pathetic losers I've ever met. They are people without hope, and people whose morality lays in what they own."

Here there is an irony, where you display Religious Intolerance immediately after the words 'Religious Intolerance' as though you were attempting to display a definition.

"Environmentalism: I cared about the environment before it was cool to do so. And before hipsters, libs and progs made it a "thing". "

If you are a self-proclaimed environmental-minded person, one wonders why you listed environmentalism on your hitlist.

"2. You don't think the white man is the devil."

Here again you enter the realm of thought control.

I am frequently glad you are a person of no real power or influence.

"Christians are well tolerate and socialists are not?"

Hello,

You need go no further than this thread to see what response 'Socialism' gets you.

Now, I should have clarified my statement of Christians to be 'mainstream Christians' and not the fringe groups who are, indeed, poorly tolerated.

I am not aware of the Catholics being persecuted and killed in this country? If anything, I think they are generously tolerated, even in the face of heinous crimes and cover-ups.

Oh, I just GOTTA hit this one:

Wulf, your first response had absolutely NOTHING to do with your initial statement of the thread. Not that it’s surprising, but it’s interesting you can’t even stick to YOUR OWN topic... When it comes to “Dicrimination (At least against white males).” and “Religious Intolerance (At least against Christians)”, are you fucking KIDDING ME? I’m sure you’re not; you no doubt believe both of those, and attribute things like gun control (of which there’s been NONE during Obama's Presidency) and communism (ditto) to Dems, Obama, hippies, etc., but that only shows how warped and unreal your mentality is.

By the way, Mike, it was McCAIN who used "lipstick on a pig" first, to describe Hillary Clinton's health care proposal. Since then, "lipstick on a pig" has spiced up the political verbiage of everyone from Charlie Rangel to Dick Cheney...so it was okay for THEM, just not when Obama said it and it was ‘politically EXPEDIENT’ to make a fuss out of it. Political correctness? Don’t kid yourself; it’s just a talking point to toss out to the crowd. THEY were then screaming about it being “politically incorrect” by saying he meant it about Palin, but what cries of “politically incorrect” did we hear when it could just as easily have referred to Clinton?

Please cite facts where anyone is forced by law to be politically correct. Law = freedom of speech, remember? PEOPLE can go after someone for being politically incorrect; the law cannot.
Quote:

atheists are the saddest, angriest, most pathetic losers I've ever met. They are people without hope, and people whose morality lays in what they own
You need to do some “larnin” yerself, kiddo; rabid Christians are the saddest, angriest, most pathetic losers I’VE ever met; they don’t practice what they preach, they’re terrified of anyone believing other than they do and attack them immediately if they do, they’re scared to die because they’d face “God’s judgment”, they’re hypocrites, and they are often the very LEAST self-aware people out there.

29 percent of households led by single females are below the poverty level, as compared with just 12 percent of households led by single males. One of the primary causes is that females are still predominately employed in traditional female jobs, such as service occupations and administrative support.

Historically, man has been entrenched as the dominant gender for thousands of years. The one undeniable aspect of gender inequality around the world is that it is still a long way off. While the progress that has been made in the twentieth century is impressive, when viewed in a historical context, true gender equality has not yet been attained.

David R. Hekman and colleagues (2009) found that men receive significantly higher customer satisfaction scores than equally well-performing women. Hekman et al. (2009) found that customers who viewed videos featuring a female and a male actor playing the role of an employee helping a customer were 19% more satisfied with the male employee's performance and also were more satisfied with the store's cleanliness and appearance. This despite that the actors performed identically, read the same script, and were in exactly the same location with identical camera angles and lighting. Moreover, 38% of the customers were women, indicating that even women and minority raters are susceptible to systematic gender biases.

In a second study, they found that male doctors were rated as more approachable and competent than equally-well performing female doctors.

Similarly, a study from Princeton University shows that when evaluators of applicants could see the applicant's gender they were more likely to select men. When the applicants gender could not be observed, the number of women hired significantly increased.

In an audit study, matched pairs of male and female pseudo-job seekers were given identical resumes and sent to apply for jobs as waiters and waitresses at the same set of restaurants. In high priced restaurants, a female applicant’s probability of getting an interview was 40 percentage points lower than a male's and her probability of getting an offer was 50 percentage points lower.

The United States National Academy of Sciences found that women in science and engineering are hindered by bias and "outmoded institutional structures" in academia.

Similarly, a report on faculty at MIT finds evidence of differential treatment of women and points out that it may encompass not simply differences in salary but also in space, awards, resources and responses to outside offers, "with women receiving less despite professional accomplishments equal to those of their male colleagues."

Organizational research that investigates biases in perceptions of equivalent male and female competence has confirmed that women who enter high-status, male-dominated work settings often are evaluated more harshly and met with more hostility than equally qualified men.

Stanford University professor Shelley Correll and colleagues sent out more than 1,200 fictitious resumes to employers in a large Northeastern city, and found that female applicants with children were significantly less likely to get hired and if hired would be paid a lower salary than male applicants with children. This despite the fact that the qualification, workplace performances and other relevant characteristics of the fictitious job applicants were held constant and only their parental status varied.

Mothers were penalized on a host of measures, including perceived competence and recommended starting salary. Men were not penalized for, and sometimes benefited from, being a parent. In a subsequent audit study, Correll at el. found that actual employers discriminate against mothers when making evaluations that affect hiring, promotion, and salary decisions, but not against fathers.

Fuegen et al. found that when evaluators rated fictitious applicants for an attorney position, female applicants with children were held to a higher standard than female applicants without children. Fathers were actually held to a significantly lower standard than male non-parents.

As to you caring about the environment long before “hipsters, libs and progs made it a "thing", how old ARE you? I’ve been working on conservation and the environment since I was 17, so that would be in 1965, just BEFORE the “hippie era”, and “environmentalism” and “conservation” go back WAY before I was born!
Quote:

In the United States, the beginnings of an environmental movement can be traced as far back as 1739, though it was not called environmentalism and was still considered conservation until the 1950s. Benjamin Franklin and other Philadelphia residents, citing "public rights," petitioned the Pennsylvania Assembly to stop waste dumping and remove tanneries from Philadelphia's commercial district.

In 1962, Silent Spring by American biologist Rachel Carson was published. The book cataloged the environmental impacts of the indiscriminate spraying of DDT in the US and questioned the logic of releasing large amounts of chemicals into the environment.

By the mid-1970s, the Back-to-the-land movement started to form and live by ideas of environmental ethics. These individuals lived outside normal society and started to take on some of the more radical environmental theories such as deep ecology. Around this time more mainstream environmentalism was starting to show force with the signing of the Endangered Species Act in 1973 and the formation of CITES in 1975.

Wikipedia

The Sierra Club is the oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization in the United States. It was founded on May 28, 1892 in San Francisco, California by the well-known conservationist and preservationist John Muir. I was part of that in my early twenties.

Greenpeace evolved from the peace movement and anti-nuclear protests in Vancouver, British Columbia in the early 1970s. I collected donations for them, typed letters in different font faces for customers of our pizza parlor to send on environmental issues, and worked for and with them from 1975 on.

The Nature Conservancy was founded in 1951 and works to preserve the plants, animals, and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. They buy tracts of land and work to preserve ecosystems on them; there are numerous Nature Conservancy tracts in Marin, and I’ve donated to them and worked with them since we moved here, also in 1975.

We began recycling in 1977 when we bought our house, and have reused and recycled everything possible, even back then when we had to wash cans and bottles and bring them to the recycling center ourselves.

The above was true of virtually all my friends in communal houses insofar as contributing to those organizations and in many cases working for/with them. The vast majority of those people were “hippies” and liberals.

So were you old enough to be AROUND for all that, when did you start, and what exactly have you DONE to support the environment?

As usual, you live in a fantasy world and make broad statements which are patently untrue. Give me a fucking BREAK!

Anthony,

Ya missed it, it was a snark. Catholics was a stand in for Latinos, who, after all, make up most of the nation's catholics. One could argue that it was a religious war if one wanted to...

True, Italians plus Irish probably exceed them, but are less likely to be actively catholic. That's what the neonazi, southern and southwestern anti-catholic church attacks are really about, they're attacking latinos.

As for socialism getting verbally attacked on a libertarian forum? Big surprise there. Try logging in to tout Islam on a zionist forum. But the ideas of socialism are not only reflected in some govt. policies, they are outright accepted as orthodoxy in much of our education system.

At any rate, no one is killing, persecuting, or imprisoning self-proclaimed socialists.

The religion getting the most flack in the US of course is Islam. But in number of people arrested or killed, I would say Christianity is probably the biggest target.

Wulf. You make a good point about conversion. Taoists don't proselytize, and so attract no attention.

You misunderstood me on Waco and FLDS, I was defending the christians, not attacking them.

What's your defintion of white? Muslims are not a race, btw, they are defined by their religion and as with christianity, cross racial and cultural divisions.

Muslim extremists have never, to my knowledge, targeted 'white men'. They've targeted Westerners and Christians.

I was called a white devil by a member of the nation of islam quite recently. They've really tanked in power since the million man march. I suspect it was the inability of Farrahkhan to come up with anything to say that made any sense even to his followers.

So you're saying that Christianity is not "quality" because its members have to preach? Maybe we can find common ground.

And your "death-to-commies" outburst kind of runs counter to a document that you and others with similar ideals refer to repeatedly.

Wulf dear. I'm not trying to score cheap points. But I am trying to make clear that beliefs are a dangerous things because they're not self-correcting.

YOU believe in a lot of things. Up until now, you prolly believed that that you truly didn't care WHAT people believed in. But I assure you, I can come up with at least a dozen beliefs that you would find distasteful, creepy, or possibly even frightening, without even touching the third-rail of Islam. You yourself came up with a dozen or so: environmentalism, feminism etc. So, you DO care what people believe. Why don't you think about what is is that offends you so deeply, and try to narrow down what you believe in and what you don't?

It offends me when people try and push their beliefs on me.

It offends me when my freedom of action is curtailed. More specifically, when action is inhibited because of the harm it *might* cause.

It offends me that so many are so willing to turn their lives over to government control. Or corporate control. Or religious control.

It offends me that so many are so willing to tracked, monitored, and watched.

It offends me that for most of my life, I have been judged and harrassed for being 2 things. 1. Male. 2. White.

It offends me that I have to ask permission to 1. Defend myself. 2. Drive. 3. Travel

It offends me that so few are willing to stand up for what is right. Unless its easy or won't cost them anything.

It no doubt offends others that you get so easily offended about their beliefs, and that you try to push YOUR beliefs on THEM. Of course, you're no doubt offended at the suggestion that you shouldn't push your beliefs on others. You do it, every single day you're here. I should be offended that you don't notice your own hypocrisy.

Yes, it offends me that I'm not able to drive 180mph through the middle of downtown while blind drunk. After all, I've never, ever hurt anyone while driving, or while drinking, so to say that I *might* do so in such a circumstance is curtailing my freedom to do so!

It also offends me that they won't let me fire automatic weapons into a crowded stadium, all because I *might* hit someone by accident. I never have before, so they have no basis to think I would next time, but still, big gubmint keeps steppin' on my bunions...

Quote:

Then why did you say you don't care what we believe, as long as we BELIEVE? And why do you lump atheists in as "pathetic losers"? Is it because they refuse to turn their lives over to outside control?

Quote:

It offends me that so many are so willing to tracked, monitored, and watched.

And yet you have consistently come down on the side of tracking, watching, and monitoring those pesky, alleged, "illegals". And you've advocated deporting "liberals"; tell us all, how would you plan to do such a thing without tracking, monitoring, or watching such people?

Quote:

It offends me that for most of my life, I have been judged and harrassed for being 2 things. 1. Male. 2. White.

I note for the record that you said "most" of your life. Now imagine you were judged and harrassed ALL of your life for being neither of those things. It happens, every single day. You're pissing and moaning 'cause you don't have the latest Jordan kicks, while there are people all around you who don't even have feet.

You whine about what you consider "racism" victims and feminists playing the victim card, and you refuse to see that you're playing it, in spades, right here, and you have been for the past few days. "Waaaaaahhhh - I'm male, middle class and white! You don't know what it's like!"

Quote:

It offends me that I have to ask permission to 1. Defend myself. 2. Drive. 3. Travel

You do? I don't have to ask permission to do any of those things. Well, I suppose you could say I have to "ask permission" to drive, since I have to have a driver's license to do so, but can you maybeperhaps show us where in your beloved Constitution the "right to drive" is enshrined? It shouldn't take you but a moment to cite it, since you claim to know the document so well... ;)

Did you join the military yet? Or run for office, like Frem told you to do? Why not? Afraid it would "cost" you something to stand for what you believe in?

I think ten out of ten pedophiles would agree with you. They'd also take you up on your "freedom of action", no doubt - after all, who are you to say what harm "might" befall a child you rape?

Don't take silence against you as a victory of some sort or that we're "starting to open our eyes." Really, it's quite the opposite. Most everyone else is just bored with having to respond to your drivel seeing as they know that you're not going to actually respond to their points or counter them. All you'll do is dismiss it outright as the babbling of brainwashed sheep and declare the options they suggest as incorrect while not offering up what you feel the correct answer would be. Either that or you'll tuck your tail between your legs and try to run away and hope nobody notices you've left. So really there's no point to responding to you. It doesn't make you right. It just makes you an idiot.

Mike and Story do more effort than they should even have to in responding to your foolishness and highlighting it for all the world to see and so take their responses as the voices of damn near all the rest of us. And when it comes to responding to you, I'll definitely allow them and anybody else like Frem or Niki to speak on my behalf because they do a better job of tearing you down than I ever could.

The part your wrong about is the whining. Making fun of your idiotic bullshit isn't whining - it's mocking the village idiot. Granted, I'm not surprised in the least that this would escape you.

Just go back to posting other people's videos in lieu of forming a thought. You're slightly less pathetic when you fall back on that.

That about covers it for several people here, who seem to be the most prolific posters. I get closer and closer to disappearing, which will no doubt please some, but will silence one more voice of reason...will be interesting to see what this place is like if I came back in a year or so. When I come back and read through a thread, usually I see ridiculous remarks, silly videos and "neener neeners", with people responding to them and trying to make valid points, only to get same again in response, every time. What a waste of time we'll never get back again!

I highly recommend some time away from here for those with any brains; it's very eye-opening.
