LET'S MAKE AMERICA EXCEPTIONAL AT HOME Georgie Anne Geyer -
Georgie Anne Geyer - Thu, Sep 29, 2011

http://news.yahoo.com/lets-america-exceptional-home-230016466.html

I have some respect for her, and while her piece starts out with Adm Mike Mullen, who spoke an unpleasant truth, she ends up being Christie for President.

But halfway thru, she dumps this loser sentence fragment, speaking of the US government:

Quote:

"Many Americans involved in the training of those mujahedeen, especially through giving them AK47s to shoot down Russian planes,"

Problem is, we didn't give them AK 47s, or if we did, it was because everybody there already had them . We gave them Stinger missles, which turned out to be the decisive weapon in the war. And they weren't used to shoot down Russian planes, but Russian helicopters, loaded with Russian infantry being moved around US-Army-in-Vietnam style. The loss of all those infantrymen is what turned the Russian public against the war, and the government turned against it because of the loss of all those EXPENSIVE helicopters.

SO she obviously doesn't know what she's talking about on this subject, or she uncritically swallowed what was fed to her by somebody, still without knowing what she's talking about.

Which is irrelevant, really, to her subject, but reflects on her credibility- if she's so dumb and wrong about that one matter important enough to include in her column, how wrong (or dumb) is she about the rest? If she was fed THAT, and was so uncritical about it, how much else has she been fed, and passed along, like an uncritical propaganda machine?

For me at least, she's lost ANY real credibility, and if I EVER read anything she writes, it'll have to go under the microscope before I'l trust a word of it.

America loves a winner!

That's funny, on many levels.

You're actually right, Rap.
The USA gave the Afghans RUSSIAN guns to fight the RUSSIANS, who are their next door neighbors, and the occupying army that can have its weapons STOLEN?

Although that is a well known CIA technique: give your proxies the enemy's weapons, so it doesn't look they got 'em from you. Misdirection. 'Course it doesn't work so well with Stinger missles...

I looked her up on wikipedia.
Among the folks she's notable for interviewing are Saddam Hussein, Yasser Arafat, Anwar Sadat,
King Hussein of Jordan, Muammar al-Gaddafi, and the Ayatollah Khomeini. Dunno what she got out of the interviews, what she had to say about them...

In a May 10, 2002 column "Now Isn't the Time for Bush League Moves," Geyer reported, without specific attribution of the source, that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon had claimed to "control America." The paper later had to print a correction-- her source turned out to be a Palestinian propaganda document, and there was NO corroborative evidence that the radio broadcast that it quoted ever happened.

That's the simplified version- but she stacks up as not careful about her sources, pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel, and possibly pro-Arab, pro-Islam.

Maybe I'm wrong about saying I have some respect for her-- I'll rephrase it--I've heard of her, and thought she was respectable.

It's really funny, the idea of shooting down Russian warplanes with 'em. Good luck with that. You might down a Cessna with an AK, if he's flying really low and slow.

If she's that cavalier with the facts, I'm surprised she isn't a Herman Cain supporter. Just sayin'.

Note to that...

No one wants to say it, but I think we all know DAMN well that the Russians have been arming the mujas this time around and laughing up their sleeves the entire time about it.

Some of them. There are a lot of ethnic Russians in that part of the world, and basically no Americans except those in the conflict. A number of the muslim extremists are also racial supremacists, and the Russian govt. has a serious issue with that, for obvious reasons.

Also, not all of them are funded by Russia, some are funded by China, Iran or, of course, us. Yes, we fund guys who shoot at us, but you knew that already. The ones who are really laughing are the ones who are being funded by multiple groups of the above.

I imagine the Saudis are placing down there as an "also funded"

BTW, that is an impressively moronic statement about AKs.

be'cuz it's not clear which statement you mean, I'm gonna ask: Which statement about the AK? I assume you mean Geyer's original, about shooting down airplanes with it.

But of course - and can you really blame them? If they're smart, they'll be arming 'em with Khyber Pass rifles, Egyptian-made Maadi stuff, Iraqi, Indian, Pakistani, and the like - they're all AK knockoffs, generally as solid and dependable as any other, but NOT Russian-made, so harder for us to try to claim they're doing it. And when you add the Pakistani and Indian ones to the mix, it ends up poking the U.S. in the eye a bit, since they're supposed to be our "allies".

I just saw "The Invasion" again the other day.

"The Invasion" was the 4th recreation of the original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1956), which was remade in 1978 (With Donald Sutherland, and by FAR the most awesome version), and then later "re-imagined" in "Body Snatchers" in 1993 with my 12 year old wet-dream Gabriel Anwar, and then the title shortened to "The Invasion" in 2007 with with my other Teenage Dream....... "To Die For Her's" Nicole Kidman........ and also co-starring a pre-Bond Daniel Craig....

Hell.... to me, the only more "REAL" movie ever made was John Carpenter's remake of "The Thing" with the AWESOME Kurt Russell......

To get back to the point.....

Who do you trust???????

Really?

We've aligned ourselves with so many others only to abandon them with disregard and watch the devil engulf them at the last second.

When I say "we", I don't mean you and I personally, but as a nation....

It's shameful....

I can't speak for you all, especially since I have yet to have any proven children of my own, but I think it's downright shameful how we've, as a nation, taken in foreign entities to fight our battles and then turned head when things got sticky.

Far from a bleeding heart liberal here... but if you're going to commit yourself to something you better stay the course or else nobody will take you seriously.

And I don't mean GWB BS staying the course because that was a wild goose chase for a phantom. Even if OBinLad even existed, the only reason why we know he's dead is because he never really mattered.

It's a quagmire.....

And as long as you keep watching American Idol, jerking off to Playboy, and collect on government funds to help put your kids in college because you were too busy buying plasma screens to pay for it yourself, you are not part of the solution.

And whether you believe in "God" or "Allah" or "Santa Clause"......

AMEN!

"A government is a body of people, usually notably ungoverned."
