Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.) said Wednesday she has “never seen it worse” regarding recent national security leaks in a series of reported stories that contained sensitive national security details. ...

The House and Senate Intelligence Committees announced Wednesday they would draft new laws concerning leaks of classified and sensitive information. Feinstein is chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

"I am deeply disturbed by the continuing leaks of classified information to the media, most recently regarding alleged cyber efforts targeting Iran’s nuclear program," (she said).

Meh, so what. Non issue IMO. Anything that needs to be kept secret usually is something that the public A) should know, and B) won't seriously care about anyway. Also, it sometimes means the black boys are up to no good, or taxpayer dollars are being wasted on getting intel like the great stuff we got from Curveball. Or intentional mis-information leaks.

It's all a game.

New York Times: Obama Ordered the Stuxnet Attack on Iran

Obama asked his national security advisers whether the attack should be halted at a White House Situation Room meeting convened days after the virus “escaped”, but decided to intensify it instead.

Commentators suggested that confirmation of American involvement in Stuxnet had been released by others to neutralize any Republican election claims that President Obama has been soft on Iran.

“Obama wanted to get credit for Stuxnet, as that makes him look tough against Iran,” said Mikko Hypponen, chief research officer at F-Secure, one of the security firms that have investigated Stuxnet. “And he needs that as Presidential elections are coming.”

The report comes several days after Iranian security experts reported that Flame, a virus far more dangerous than the Stuxnet worm, struck the country's computer systems.

The virus, described by the Kaspersky Internet security firm as the “most sophisticated cyber-weapon yet unleashed”, struck at least 600 specific computer systems in Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian Authority.

Iran later admitted that its oil industry was briefly affected by Flame, but claimed that Iranian experts had detected and defeated the virus.

It is not known who was behind the virus, but Vice Prime Minister Moshe Ya'alon appeared to hint in a radio interview Tuesday that Israel is behind the malware.

Asked about the attack, Ya'alon told IDF Radio: “Whoever sees the Iranian threat as a meaningful threat – it is reasonable he would take various measures, including this one.”

“Israel has been blessed with being a state rich in top level high-tech. These tools that we take pride in open up various possibilities for us,” he added.

The semi-official Iranian news agency Fars seized upon Ya’alon's statements as proof that Israel engineered the Flame virus.

“The Vice Prime Minister of the Zionist regime admitted the role of the regime in creating the virus Flame for cyber espionage in the Middle East, and especially in Iran,” Fars stated. "Moshe Ya’alon's statements today are an additional confirmation of Israel's role in developing the malicious program.”

Chris.

You're looking at this through purely partisan eyes.

The Iraq 'goof' wasn't an issue of leaked intel. You go tell Diane Feinstein about how this isn't any big deal, or not all that much different. She's no 'right winger', and even she can't cover up for this - who EVER it is that's leaking this stuff.

Sorry, but I can't follow your tin foil hat comments on what was the cause of 9-11. This is NOW, and the leaks recently coming are of a current nature, not drudging up things from the past. If you can't / won't deal with the very real issues of the present, then you're really not comprehending what is going on.

Okay, this is the biggest, b.s., nonsensical conspiracy theory of all time. There is absolutely no reason for the Obama Admin. to purposefully leak this stuff, and every reason not to. No Democratic President in my lifetime has been as outright hawkish as Barack Obama. He got OBL killed, for chrissakes. If that didn't settle the issue, no amount of leaking of sensative intel will do it. And, hello, this amount of leak can do nothing but damage his reputation, anyway. No way does he have to commit this kind of crime just so folks will think he's tough on fer'ners. There is no reason for his admin. to leak this information. There is no way that this does not look bad for President Obama.

Sure, it's the worst Feinstein has seen, not because Obama's leaking this stuff, but because information is becoming less and less secure, period. Hello, wikileaks, hello, anonymous. Systems can be hacked. As the technology becomes more and more available, more and more private citizens and organizations have access to the best gear. It's a sign of the times. Obama would have to be a moron to think, "Gee, I better shore up my national security cred by letting the world know that I'm attacking Iran." He may be a lot of things, but he ain't a moron. And he has proven that he and his know perfectly well how to run a campaign and this clearly is not how ya do it.

Anybody who floats this b.s. conspiracy is a buffoon.

Fuck you. You can't follow shit. I don't know why I keep trying. You STILL don't know the cause of 9-11, you STILL don't know why we went into Iraq, and IT'S ALL OUT THERE TO BE LEARNED, but you won't learn it. You blame Obama for a slip of the tongue (mind) but you blame no rightie for TORTURE & DEATH!!!! I say Obama is a stupid politician at best, & a scumbag at worst, and you STILL call him Mr. Wonderful like we should be personally insulted or something!!
You are just too disconnected, man.
You don't even TRY.

Peace, out.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I know what 9/11 was all about, Chrissy, But THIS issue isn't about that, at all. Obama made no 'slip of the tongue', as you put it. And that's the point that's so infuriating to me, that YOU can't / won't see Obama for his true self.

Feinstein's " never seen it worse " remark still can't seem to put a dent in your reality helmet, you have shoved so tightly over your eyes.

*sigh*

I'm sort of at a loss as to how folks aren't seeing this as a severe leak problem, and are so willing to casually dismiss it as 'business as usual'. After all the fuss over over the Val Plame NON leak case, where a desk jockey was outted by herself, and then some in the media whipped up a story to blame the Bush administration over, where's the outrage over this ?

There seems to be bi-partisan concern here, at least. Why the media is so cavalier about it all, mystifies me.

Maybe if the not-leaks weren't about a nation of jerks doing underhanded nonsense to another nation of jerks, and potentially setting a precedence for future cyberattacks with very dangerous and infrastructure damaging viruses that we probably should both know about and know where they come from, I would care more.

But since they are, I'm all out of sympathy for pretty much all of them. Israel doesn't like that the world found out about their shenanigans? Best news I've heard all day.

When someone uses those viruses to halt our centrifuges, the irony will be incredible. I wonder when they'll go after the incinerators used to disposes of our really nasty weapons, make them malfunction, spread nerve agent everywhere.

I'll feel very safe then.

That really wasn't hyperbole AU. I do in fact think it's more dangerous than a nuclear weapon. Hell, we have conventional explosions that are more dangerous than a nuclear weapon, and this virus is obviously more dangerous than those too.

If it can stop centrifuges in Iran, it can stop centrifuges here. If modified versions can be tailored to stop any computerized machine of a specific make, it can be targeted at machines that would cause a widespread disaster if they were shut down (my incinerator point), and it could also be modified to attack power plants (including nuclear power plants, which crosses over with point 2).

A concentrated effort with these viruses directed at multiple different targets could cripple an entire industry, and IF they were targeted at various key power plants on the grid, a first world nation could be taken back to the stone age.

This thing is bad news.

Yeah, Chris...amusing, isn't it? With no knowledge whatsoever of what I know or whether it's pro-DiFi or anti-DiFi, or pro-Obama or anti-Obama, he jumps to his usual conclusion and runs with it. Makes me giggle, he does.

Hint: I'm no fan of DiFi...many of us aren't. We've known her for a long time and, although I appreciate some of the stands she takes (when she takes them) and mostly how she votes, I and many other Californians are fully aware that her words and actions are as often as not politically expediency. He can figure it out for himself. Or go on assuming, makes no difference to me...just makes me giggle.

This whole thread is only important to Raptor so he could put it up as part of his partisan jihad. Wouldn't interest him otherwise, we all know that. Yours is the salient point: Partisanship trumps ALL, where he's concerned. I guess he didn't notice that only 61% of Democrats (only 82 of 208) voted for the war--the same percentage of Americans who said just days before the invasion that they were ready for such an invasion "in the next week or two." (wiki), while all but EIGHT Republicans voted for it (and two of those were "no vote")...I guess that makes some kind of point...like maybe, knowing what they did, the Dems reflected the American people while the Repubs happily followed where Dubya led?

Little Rappy ...

Are you avoiding something?

Here's the link from that thread you just didn't understand.
http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?tid=52174

And to make it perfectly clear to others what the question was about that you keep ducking (if not to you):

here is SignyM's post
Tax the ultra-wealthy...a lot.

here is your post:
Yeah, Carter TRIED that, how'd that work out for him ?

here is the chart showing Nixon AND Ford TRIED taxing the wealthy, while Carter LOWERED axes on the wealthy (cap gains):

and here is your post where you lied about what you posted:
I never said Carter raised taxes ...

So, let's take it back to the thread where it belongs.

How is it that you don't criticize Nixon and Ford, who taxed the wealthy greatly, but blame Carter for 'trying' high taxes on the wealthy when he lowered them?

And btw that lowering of taxes - how'd that work out for him?

That's not lying, sorry. You still seem confused at that concept. It's really not that tricky.

The economies under Ford and Carter weren't identical, were they ? I was little, so I don't recall. But maybe had Ford cut taxes, like Reagan wanted to in '76, he'd have been elected and we'd never had the mistake of Carter in the first place.

But enough of that side track. Carter maintained ( tried ) high personal income taxes. That didn't work out too well, did it ?

I never said he RAISED them, did I?

I didn't lie. Sorry. You fail.

Just like with Miss Wombat. She would have failed you, but she didn't want to see you in her class the following year.

Sad.

Even more sad, is how he uses that same pic in 2 different threads, attempting to make the same, ridiculous statement.
