Yeah, because a sovereign nation did not grant them access to come into the country. You bitched about overstepping when we flew planes over the country, of course now, you'll bitch that we didn't mount a full on invasion.

Huh. According to your post, it's not dangerous for U.S. government officials to be there. Was that how you meant that to sound?

I guess there really is no lengths that you'll not go to in order to defend this admin's utter and complete incompetency. Even after the murder of a US ambassador, and 3 Americans, on 9/11, after there were specific threats to the safety and well being of said ambassador.

I fail to see the point of even trying to have a conversation w/ you.

Does that mean you're going to ignore me?

Promise?

Did Qaddafi grant us permission to drop bombs on his ass ? Yeah... no. You know this for a FACT that the FBI is being denied access, and it's not , as they are telling everyone else, that it's because things are too dangerous for them ?

Which is it ? Cites, please ?

Before, Qaddafi didn't do anything to us. Now ? 4 dead Americans , including our ambassador...

And it's pretty common knowledge that Obama not only has been pushing the " it's a video " crap. since day 1, but also that Libyan officials knew this wasn't some spontaneous riot, but a coordinated , pre-planned attack.

Quick, go find an anonymous blog post to back up your point, Story!

I'm still laughing my ass off at Rappy's idiocy; after claiming that it was far too dangerous in Benghazi for the ambassador to be there, he uses the idea that CNN reporters were there to buttress his argument that it's in no way too dangerous for any U.S. officials to be there.

Awesome job of wrapping yourself in a cloak of idiocy hidden in a cloud of asinine, boy!

Storybook,

Not only will I not shut the fuck up, but I HAVE given cites already.

As for your claims, that we CAN'T get in and investigate yet, whose fucking fault is that?? `Over 2 weeks now, and everyone , including CNN reporters have been able to waltz through the crime scene, even lifting Steven's own DIARY !

Quote:

"They had difficulty, and we understand there was some bureaucratic infighting between the FBI and Justice Department on the one hand, and the State Department on the other, and so it took them longer than they would have liked to get into country. They've now gotten there. But they still are unable to get permission to go to Benghazi."

Our govt is so god damn busy fighting amongst themselves, it's no wonder they can't work w/ Libyan officials, now is it ?

Incompetence, at the highest levels.

Quote:

In their initial accounts, Rice and other senior administration officials insisted there was no indication the attack was “pre-planned.” It grew, they said, from a spontaneous protest outside the consulate that was inspired by the violent demonstration outside the U.S. Embassy in Cairo against a video denigrating the Prophet Mohammed, the founder of Islam. The video, which has triggered a rash of violent anti-American protests across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, was made in the United States.

The accounts, however, were quickly challenged. President Mohammad Magarief, the head of the Libyan National Congress, the recently elected interim government, said that the assault was organized and planned by foreigners, some with links to al Qaida, involved members of a local Islamist militant group, and was deliberately timed for the anniversary of 9/11.

President Barack Obama speaks before the United Nations General Assembly, Sept. 25, 2012. (AP)

(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama devoted 5 minutes of his speech before the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday to a YouTube trailer that insulted Islam and 1 minute and 32 seconds talking about the threat of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon.

President Obama made his first reference to what he called a “crude and disgusting video” at 11 minutes and 33 seconds into his speech. The video, which is a YouTube trailer for a shoddy film made by a man in southern California, has been blamed by the Obama administration for protests in the Middle East and North Africa.

“In every country, there are those who find different religious beliefs threatening; in every culture, those who love freedom for themselves must ask how much they are willing to tolerate freedom for others,” Obama said.

“That is what we saw play out the last two weeks, as a crude and disgusting video sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world,” he said. “I have made it clear that the United States government had nothing to do with this video, and I believe its message must be rejected by all who respect our common humanity. It is an insult not only to Muslims, but to America as well – for as the city outside these walls makes clear, we are a country that has welcomed people of every race and religion.”

Obama continued to cite the video for 5 minutes.
“I know there are some who ask why we don't just ban such a video,” he said. “The answer is enshrined in our laws: our Constitution protects the right to practice free speech.”

The president’s discussion of the video concluded at 16 minutes and 35 seconds into his speech. “Just as we cannot solve every problem in the world, the United States has not, and will not, seek to dictate the outcome of democratic transitions abroad, and we do not expect other nations to agree with us on every issue,” he said.

“Nor do we assume that the violence of the past weeks, or the hateful speech by some individuals, represents the views of the overwhelming majority of Muslims -- any more than the views of the people who produced this video represent those of Americans,” Obama added.

Obama’s first mention of Iran came at 24 minutes and 37 seconds into his 32 minute-long speech. “In Iran, we see where the path of a violent and unaccountable ideology leads,” he said.

“The Iranian people have a remarkable and ancient history, and many Iranians wish to enjoy peace and prosperity alongside their neighbors,” Obama said. “But just as it restricts the rights of its own people, the Iranian government props up a dictator in Damascus and supports terrorist groups abroad. Time and again, it has failed to take the opportunity to demonstrate that its nuclear program is peaceful, and to meet its obligations to the United Nations.”

“Make no mistake: a nuclear-armed Iran is not a challenge that can be contained,” he said. “It would threaten the elimination of Israel, the security of Gulf nations, and the stability of the global economy. It risks triggering a nuclear-arms race in the region, and the unraveling of the non-proliferation treaty. That is why a coalition of countries is holding the Iranian government accountable.”

Obama ended his remarks on Iran at 26 minutes and 9 seconds, saying, “And that is why the United States will do what we must to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

"It's too early for us to make that judgment. I think -- I know that this is being investigated, and we're working with the Libyan government to investigate the incident. So I would not want to speculate on that at this time."

September 13. -- A senior U.S. official tells CNN that the Benghazi violence was a "clearly planned attack:

Well, in Rappy's defense, none of his trusted "news" sources (FauxNews, Limpballs, Bill Orally, etc.) ever brought up any of those facts, so of course Rappy never heard any of that stuff.

I'm surprised he hasn't accused us of "lying" and making these quotes up; it's what he usually does when faced with facts that don't quite fit into his tiny, constricted black-and-white worldview.

Storybook - saw that nicely edited CNN piece myself, and chose not to run w/ it, because it was incomplete. It highlighted the admin's talking up the terror aspect to it, but left out the bulk of them saying it was all prompted by the video.

This wasn't about the video.

And yet, when Carney comes out and says they don't have all the info yet, he then goes on to talk about what ? The video.

James, it wasn't about the video. So why bring attention to it at all ?

Because that was the narrative this admin wanted to give to the world, and the media, as to cover up their colossal incompetence. Stevens asked for more security, as he feared for his life. Obama ? Hillary? They didn't care, one damn bit. Adding more security might be a sign of mistrust to the new Libyan govt, and we couldn't have that, now could we ?

I do love how you try to twist the issue though, and claim that I'm lying or completely wrong, when in fact I'm exactly right. Just because Obama or Carey didn't say " It was all just about the video " ,in those exact words, as quoted, doesn't mean that wasn't the message his admin was still trying to convey. The overwhelming message sent out, and the clear view by this admin was that these attacks were spontaneous, and were just a group of thugs committing acts of violence, when nothing could be further from the truth.

You losers get so anal about trying to paint those who oppose you into these imaginary corners, where by you think proving that Obama never actually said the words " it's all just about the video " or some close approximation to that some how means anything of significance. It doesn't This sums it up, quite nicely.

Carney is talking out of both sides of his mouth here. Yes, there was " terrorism ", but no, we don't think it was pre-planned. 'We're sticking w/ the video excuse, until and unless we can come up with something better '. Then why in the hell even bring UP the video, if it was released months ago , and no one has even seen the damn thing in the first place ??

This is nothing more than D.C. double speak, crafted to sound clever, and inclusive enough, so they appear to be covering all their bases, but in fact, it's flat out lying and incompetence, on full parade.

The press isn't buying this admin's go-se, and are starting to push back. You, clearly, are such a blind zealot for Obama and company, you'll excuse make for and attack anyone who dares to show you the truth about this phony 'commander OF chief.'

Kinda pointless in trying to converse w/ zealots like you, who'll even deny reality, no matter how many cites are given.

Nope. I'm suggesting that State Department folks on the ground in Benghazi requested increased security during a specific timeframe due to specific threats and previous attacks - and were turned down.

Per the Washington Post piece above, the security in Benghazi wasn't even up to standard consulate security levels.

Nearly a dozen of them, in fact. It's a conspiracy - Rappy's trying to plaster the board with all his own conspiracy nutbaggery from birther websites in order to make sure no one else can post anything! (Hey, that's as valid and cogent an argument as anything Rappy has posted here.)

You've done no such thing. New e-mails show just how absurd this administration's actions have been on all this.

Unbelievable , gross incompetence, or bald face lying, covering up for their political agenda they WISH were true, or something far worse.

There are only 2 options here. Which do YOU want to be the case ??

Quote:

A series of internal State Department emails obtained by Fox News shows that officials reported within hours of last month's deadly consulate attack in Libya that Al Qaeda-tied group Ansar al-Sharia had claimed responsibility.
The emails provide some of the most detailed information yet about what officials knew in the initial hours after the attack. And it again raises questions about why U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice, apparently based on intelligence assessments, would claim five days after the attack that it was a "spontaneous" reaction to protests over an anti-Islam film.

Ansar al-Sharia has been declared by the State Department to be an Al Qaeda-affiliated group. A member of the group suspected of participating in the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi has been arrested and is being held in Tunisia.

The emails obtained by Fox News were sent by the State Department to a variety of national security platforms, whose addresses have been redacted, including the White House Situation Room, the Pentagon, the FBI and the Director of National Intelligence.

The WH knew, Nickerson. Seriously, your, and the Left's stubborn, willful, continued feigned ignorance on this matter is tiresome.

Internal e-mails have confirmed that the WH knew, as early as late afternoon, that the consulate was under attack, there were no protests, and that Amb Stevens was missing.

Forget about the 3AM call. Obama knew , by early evening, that we had a missing ambassador, and simply went to bed. Seems Barry had a plane to catch for Vegas the next day.

And yes, there may have been confusion in the reporting of incident, as follow up protests took place, and govt officials ( from both Libya and the US ) were relying on NEWS reports of what was going on. News reports which, in part, were based on a false narrative of some damn video, which we STILL don't know where that story first came from... but from damn near the very start, the intel was clear. There were no protests which grew and got out of control, there was no mass rally to convey anger over a YouTube video, yet THIS White House repeated that lie, over and over again, for DAYS, when it knew, with in the first few hours, what in fact was going on.

It completely fabricated this story of the YouTube video, out of thin air, because it needed a cover to explain away what happened. Obama said HE killed bin Laden, and that al Qaeda was on the run. We'd freed the Libyans of Qaddafi's terror, and all was right in the middle east.

So why did they kill our ambassador ? And 3 other Americans ? Why were 30 or so Americans lives put in danger ? Why didn't we DO something to help ? Where was the military ? Why did we just sit on our hands, and let this happen ?

Answers are demanded.

White House told of militant claim two hours after Libya attack: emails

http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/10/24/us-usa-benghazi-emails-idUSB
RE89N02C20121024

(Reuters) - Officials at the White House and State Department were advised two hours after attackers assaulted the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11 that an Islamic militant group had claimed credit for the attack, official emails show.
The emails, obtained by Reuters from government sources not connected with U.S. spy agencies or the State Department and who requested anonymity, specifically mention that the Libyan group called Ansar al-Sharia had asserted responsibility for the attacks.

The brief emails also show how U.S. diplomats described the attack, even as it was still under way, to Washington.

U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed in the Benghazi assault, which President Barack Obama and other U.S. officials ultimately acknowledged was a "terrorist" attack carried out by militants with suspected links to al Qaeda affiliates or sympathizers.

Administration spokesmen, including White House spokesman Jay Carney, citing an unclassified assessment prepared by the CIA, maintained for days that the attacks likely were a spontaneous protest against an anti-Muslim film.

While officials did mention the possible involvement of "extremists," they did not lay blame on any specific militant groups or possible links to al Qaeda or its affiliates until intelligence officials publicly alleged that on September 28.

There were indications that extremists with possible al Qaeda connections were involved, but also evidence that the attacks could have erupted spontaneously, they said, adding that government experts wanted to be cautious about pointing fingers prematurely.

U.S. intelligence officials have emphasized since shortly after the attack that early intelligence reporting about the attack was mixed.

Spokesmen for the White House and State Department had no immediate response to requests for comments on the emails.

MISSIVES FROM LIBYA

The records obtained by Reuters consist of three emails dispatched by the State Department's Operations Center to multiple government offices, including addresses at the White House, Pentagon, intelligence community and FBI, on the afternoon of September 11.

The first email, timed at 4:05 p.m. Washington time - or 10:05 p.m. Benghazi time, 20-30 minutes after the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission allegedly began - carried the subject line "U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi Under Attack" and the notation "SBU", meaning "Sensitive But Unclassified."

The text said the State Department's regional security office had reported that the diplomatic mission in Benghazi was "under attack. Embassy in Tripoli reports approximately 20 armed people fired shots; explosions have been heard as well."

The message continued: "Ambassador Stevens, who is currently in Benghazi, and four ... personnel are in the compound safe haven. The 17th of February militia is providing security support."

A second email, headed "Update 1: U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi" and timed 4:54 p.m. Washington time, said that the Embassy in Tripoli had reported that "the firing at the U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi had stopped and the compound had been cleared." It said a "response team" was at the site attempting to locate missing personnel.

A third email, also marked SBU and sent at 6:07 p.m. Washington time, carried the subject line: "Update 2: Ansar al-Sharia Claims Responsibility for Benghazi Attack."

The message reported: "Embassy Tripoli reports the group claimed responsibility on Facebook and Twitter and has called for an attack on Embassy Tripoli."

While some information identifying recipients of this message was redacted from copies of the messages obtained by Reuters, a government source said that one of the addresses to which the message was sent was the White House Situation Room, the president's secure command post.

Other addressees included intelligence and military units as well as one used by the FBI command center, the source said.

It was not known what other messages were received by agencies in Washington from Libya that day about who might have been behind the attacks.

Intelligence experts caution that initial reports from the scene of any attack or disaster are often inaccurate.

By the morning of September 12, the day after the Benghazi attack, Reuters reported that there were indications that members of both Ansar al-Sharia, a militia based in the Benghazi area, and al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, the North African affiliate of al Qaeda's faltering central command, may have been involved in organizing the attacks.

One U.S. intelligence official said that during the first classified briefing about Benghazi given to members of Congress, officials "carefully laid out the full range of sparsely available information, relying on the best analysis available at the time."

The official added, however, that the initial analysis of the attack that was presented to legislators was mixed.

"Briefers said extremists were involved in attacks that appeared spontaneous, there may have been a variety of motivating factors, and possible links to groups such as (al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and Ansar al-Sharia) were being looked at closely," the official said.

The video had been causing an uproar days before in Egypt. The emails do not state there were no protests. They also say that a group was claimed responsibility but again that does not prove a thing.

My question would be what military? We don't have a military presents in Lybia.

This had zero to do w/ Cairo. Virtually no one knew about this video, which had been released back in June. It was the anniversary of 9/11 , as if that was any damn reason for rowdy Muslims to take to the streets and burn US flags.

Benghazi is another issue, entirely.

The e-mails ( those released, which aren't ALL that exist ) don't mention a lot of things... your point ?

There were no protests prior to the attacks. THAT has been established. Why you keep harping on this imaginary issue, is really bizarre.

What military ( assets ) ? Oh, I don't know... maybe from Italy ? We have something in the vicinity, I'm pretty sure. As Commander OF Chief, Barry should have known...but instead, he want to bed.

YOU'RE the one adding things which aren't there, as well as ignoring things which ARE there.

Talk about reading comprehension and thinking fail!

So was the 9/11 anniversary a reason, or not?

You say it "had zero to do w/ Cairo". Did you know that while the events were happening? If so, why didn't you say so that night, or the next day?

And then you say that "it was the anniversary of 9/11, as if that was any damn reason for rowdy Muslims to take to the streets and burn US flags.

So was the 9/11 anniversary any reason for it, or wasn't it? You've been claiming it was, and now you seem to indicate that it wasn't.

You seem more confused than you claim the administration is. Are you lying? If the State Department issued the exact same words you used here, would you say THEY were lying?

Father of Slain SEAL: Who Made the Decision Not to Save My Son?

Charles Woods, the father Tyrone Woods, who was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attack at the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya, reveals details of meeting barack obama and hillary clinton at the publicly broadcast memorial service for the slain americans at andrews air force base only days after the attack. and, in a recent radio appearance, woods publicly questions who made the call not to send in back-up forces to possibly save his son’s life, as well as the three other americans killed in benghazi (which includes the american ambassador to libya).

“when [obama] came over to our little area” at andrew air force base, says woods, “he kind of just mumbled, you know, ‘i’m sorry.’ his face was looking at me, but his eyes were looking over my shoulder like he could not look me in the eye. and it was not a sincere, ‘i’m really sorry, you know, that you’re son died,’ but it was totally insincere, more of whining type, ‘i’m sorry.’”
Woods says that shaking president obama’s hands at his son’s memorial service was “like shaking hands with a dead fish.”

“it just didn’t feel right,” he says of his encounter with the commander in chief. “and now that it’s coming out that apparently the white house situation room was watching our people die in real time, as this was happening,” woods says, he wants answers on what happened—and why there was no apparent effort to save his son’s life.

“well, this is what hillary did,” woods continues. “she came over and, you know, did the same thing—separately came over and talked with me. i gave her a hug, shook her hand. and she did not appear to be one bit sincere—at all. and you know, she mentioned that the thing about, we’re going to have that person arrested and prosecuted that did the video. that was the first time i had even heard about anything like that.”

Okay, you want to go with two hours? The timeline states the first shot is fired at 9:30pm and the Americans inside, minus the Ambassador, got out around 10:30pm.

So name me the US military air craft that could have made it from a base in Italy to Bengahzi in that time, and did anything to help.

America loves a winner!

The fighting didn't end at the second that Amb Stevens was killed. It went on for several hours later.

I don't know for certain that Sicily is the closest location of assets in the region. I was just answering your question. Maybe we had assets closer, that aren't privy to public knowledge. Who'd know that ? The President.

Where the hell was he ?

In bed.

I did not say the fighting was over when Stevens died. In fact he died at a hospital, or smoke inhalation later on.

Yes, I was wrong about the time I said before. Yes there was contiuned fighting at a safe house about a mile away, but the fighting at the consulate was pretty much over in a few a hours. Looters had already moved in. They found Stevens.

You keep saying Obama was in bed, got any proof.

No, YOU said the fighting lasted maybe 20 minutes. Ya got that one about as wrong as possible.

Died at the hospital ? Or was it smoke inhalation , later on ? Which is it ?? SEE ? Even YOU don't know what the frell you're talking about.

He DIED , somehow , we're not entirely sure. It was SAID he died of smoke, but as we've seen, info is suspect. And he was PRONOUNCED dead, at the hospital, that's not the same thing as DYING there.

Well according to the timeline you posted Stevens arrived at the hospital at 1 pm, and pernounced dead at 1:45 pm. So unless you want to call into suspect one of your citations I do seem to know what I'm talking about.

Let me explain the burden of proof to you. It rests on the person making the claim. Since you are making the claim the President was in bed, you need to provide the evidenceI do not fear God, I fear the ignorance of man.

The military, has these planes, with jet engines. They fly really really fast....

And you're an idiot.

From the first inkling that there was trouble, how long to formulate a plan for an airstrike, get approval for it, brief the pilots, prep the planes and munitions, get 'em all fueled and armed, scramble them, burn at max speed, slow down, refuel, burn some more, arrive on scene, and carry out an airstrike on our own consulate?

That IS what you're suggesting, isn't it?
