That's insane.

Even if she had been that falling down drunk.. that's STILL a medical emergency. They apparently didn't bother to check her condition at all. There's absolutely no excuse. Heads should be rolling.

Medical training, ethics training, hell, HUMANITY training, you ask me...
All too often instead of a peace officer, you get a bully with a badge, and the severe lack of accountability just makes it worse - not only are they held to the lowest possible standard, if at all, but any lawsuit comes out of the victims, the very taxpayers they're abusing.

I am of the mind that when someone sworn to uphold the law maliciously or negligently violates it, instead of going easy on them(1) they should be given triple the penalty, and all lawsuits should come directly out of the budget of the department that inspired it - THAT would put an end to a lot of this crap.

And no, it's not at all uncommon, not just stuff like this...

There's also the DeathChair/DevilsChair, which is also a known problem

Both Florida, of course, between them and TexASS, is it any wonder I'd all but help the "South" secede, and wouldn't mind evicting them ?

(1) Despite every effort to prevent gathering statistics on police abuses and misconduct, one private citizen started doing so, and then passed the project onto CATO when they become literally overwhelmed by the sheer VOLUME of it - making the "few bad apples" excuse a dead letter, and showing beyond doubt that statistically police who commit crimes, no matter how blatantly or maliciously, are often let off the hook entire and when charged at all are almost exclusively (90%+) thrown the minimum possible charge and sentence, further calcifying the problem at hand.

Of course, now that the problem has been dragged out beyond all possible denial, there's STILL the problem of getting anything DONE about it, given the blue suit mafias lock on the very system needed to do so.
