If you have any buddies in the Austin FD, can you hook me up with this guy? Hot and heroic, mmmmm.

Yup; go to the link, photo's bigger, obviously a ring. Sorry about that, Mal4! 'Cuz you're right, he's KEWL, and my kinda guy too!

Poor pup looks scared...goin' to their website, gonna post a "thank you". And thanx for the article, Mal4.

ETA...Just back from their FB page, they posted this: "We don't just rescue two-legged victims...we love our four-legged friends as well. Two of AFD's finest--Firefighter Matt Harvey and Firefighter Michael Cooper, both from B shift--show just what that means."

I sent Kwicko an email recently an he responded, but he hasn't been around here as much. Busy as I recall.

It's too bad. The more people active in a community the better for the conversations.

Didn't occur to me to check for a ring. I prefer to maintain the fantasy when I get a little crush LOL!

Really, the huggy dog is the sweet thing. I didn't even notice the hot guy until a comment under the article pointed him out.

I just love stories like this. Yay for the Austin FD!

Boo for Kwicko not being around.

...Yes, and thank you for the lovely breath of fresh air in this fetid "room".

(ETA: Personally, I think Mike shows considerable sanity for doing OTHER things...I'm just having too much fun right now.)

The best white elephant gift ever is a can of beans and a roll of toilet paper. That or a frozen 99 Cent green chili microwave burrito, wrapped fifteen minutes before the exchange.

The look of disappointment is priceless.

You've never had a fish sandwich from a vending machine.

LMAO, I shoulda asked Jason if he was married...

Local firefighter, good guy, now rather notorious for saving the people and then going back for the pets after doing it twice in three weeks.

Three weeks later.

People are weird, rescue humans all month long and it's just the job, but save a couple fluffies and suddenly you're a hero - not that I disapprove, as Firefighters and Airline Pilots are what I consider heroic by default, and apparently ALL of ours have a soft spot for critters.

So it seems a thing around here - even the county K9's have been sweet, Ziva, who recently passed away in January and her replacement Buky, who despite my aversions to police dogs in general is quite professional and I like to rib his partner than Buky has more training than he does.

I've met Buky in a professional capacity, trying to locate the shell casings from a shots-fired incident and see if we could track whoever was packing that piece - he's very professional.

Bleugh... How long was it out of the vending machine before it was opened?

Well done. You have surpassed even my capacity for hilarious pranks that make people sad.

Unfortunately, I have a tendency to run up to strange animals for head pats and belly rubs, so my survival time with any police dog is likely to approach zero.

That said: Puppies!

OK, you people are all awesome.

It's been a long week. Clearly I needed a dose of cute animals, hot firefighters, and weird ass sci-fi fan sarcasm.

Check.

Well you're welcome to the raccoon hanging out behind Building#16 tonight, not only was he unconcerned about me walking by, I *tried* to shoo him off and he just made little cute raccoon faces at me till I went away.. jerk.
If he's still around there might be footage, later.

No joy on the Raccoon, but there was a bunny.

Also, bonus points for cat annoyance.

She doesn't much like my Syma S107C, unlike Puppy, Molly isn't fond of bugs and since to her it's like the biggest bug EVER she kinda dislikes it, I have to keep it in a drawer when not in use or she'll attack it while it's "sleeping".
