Republican lawmakers plan on filing a lawsuit that could block the Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office from issuing any more same sex marriage licenses.

State Senator William Sharer, R-Farmington, told the Associated Press that he and two dozen other New Mexico GOP lawmakers plan on filing the suit as early as Friday afternoon. Sharer said it’s up the New Mexico State Legislature, not county clerks, to make decisions like this.
