But a lot has happened since then.

The next day after the video with papa, mama decided to roost nearby but elsewhere for the day. The owlets were all alone for the first time. Then papa showed up for a time. Two days later one of the owlets fluttered to the window ledge one floor down. The other spent the day next to but out of the nest on the green window shade near the top of the window. (Owlets sleep flat on their tummies since it makes them smaller targets for raptors.) The next day, the owlet on the window ledge one floor down fluttered to the ground. Given the presence of ravens, bobcats, coyotes, and mountain lions, it was taken to a local wildlife rescue. http://www.wildwings.org/birds.html where it may find some friends.

And the other owlet found its way to the window ledge below the window shade.

The babies are growing up.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Oh good--and thank you! I was actually hoping one or both would end up on the ground and get picked up...at least that one will survive. Will cross fingers it's the same for the second, because without safe branches right nearby, I don't think they have much chance to fledge otherwise.
