I wasn't paying attention back then, nor ever thought much about him,
but I am fairly certain I never heard anyone say that Nixon was innocent.
He was a huge embarrassment. ... Please don't twist my meaning.

Since Chris uses the Enterprise, you must be complaining about my pic of
Morgan Freeman. He's my Avatar, not representing myself. Many folks put
someone or thing they admire as their avatar.

I'm fairly sure you're no one's sockpuppet. However, you are a Troll and
seriously OCD. You oughta look to that.

As for Chris, he's an original. He never goes along to get along.

I'm sorry MIKER, but this is a classic AURaptor line. Don't sound like him if you don't want to be associated with him.
The fact is that Nixon was pardoned of crimes NOT YET PROVEN. I don't give a toss about what a pardon legally consists of, the law was BENT a little there. Happens all the time. Deal with it. He wasn't impeached, and going on like this in the face of the facts makes it seem like you are just Rappy tryin' to sound like a negatively-charged, anti-matter version of himself out to test the waters of politically fueled debate from the other side.
I was fully prepared to believe I was in error, as you plainly saw.

From Wiki FWIW:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeachment#Officials_subject_to_impeachm
ent

Impeachment is a formal process in which an official is accused
of unlawful activity, the outcome of which, depending on the country,
may include the removal of that official from office as well as criminal
or civil punishment.

Officials subject to impeachment:
The central question regarding the Constitutional dispute about the
impeachment of members of the legislature is whether members of
Congress are officers of the United States. The Constitution grants
the House the power to impeach "The President, the Vice President,
and all civil Officers of the United States." It has been suggested that
members of Congress are not officers of the United States. Others,
however, believe that members are civil officers and are subject to
impeachment.

Process:
At the federal level, the impeachment process is a two-step procedure.
The House of Representatives must first pass, by a simple majority of
those present and voting, articles of impeachment, which constitute
the formal allegation or allegations. Upon passage, the defendant has
been "impeached". Next, the Senate tries the accused.

One of the things the HJC does is, it composes & proposes New Laws.
When they create a new bill and send it to the House for discussion &
ratification, it says much the same as it will when it's voted in or voted
down. A bill is a proposed law with no power to enforce anything.

The HJC wrote in present tense, "RESOLVED, That Richard M. Nixon,
President of the United States, is impeached for high crimes and
misdemeanours ..." It wasn't a Law when it went to the floor on July
30th. It wasn't a law even on 9 Aug 1974, when Nixon resigned. ...
It was a suggestion.

He plead guilty to the charges because they were going forward with the impeachment.

Incorrect. He never plead guilty, because he was not guilty. On the other hand, you are now contradicting yourself, having claimed all this time that he was Impeached, and now you are saying he was going to be Impeached, which indicates you understand that he was not Impeached.
Quote:

There is no pardon without an admission of guilt to the charges.

Also incorrect. Ford administered an unconditional pardon to prevent further long drawn out political battle. There was no admission of guilt, because he knew he wasn't guilty. The pardon was pre-emptive.
Quote:

The charges were in the Articles of Impeachment.

You mean the proposed, suggested, presented, considered, discussed Articles. Only one Article had substance, and was only going to get near passage due to the 243-192 Democrat majority (242 Dems, 1 Independent voting as Democrat). It was only trumped up to a Committee vote based on hearsay and there was no truth to the claims. Nixon did finally admit that he should have dealt with the problem which did occur more forcefully, but he only found out about it after the event occurred.
The second and third Articles essentially say that if the First is found true, then Nixon did not notify proper authorities that the claims in the First Article did occur. These are merely piling on, as soon as the First Article is found baseless, the other 2 collapse completely. This is because, as Nixon knew, he could not have notified anybody about something which didn't happen. Also note that these 2 Articles required more arm-twisting of the Committee, barely passed out of Committee, and took more days to get a majority vote from the Committee.

He was being impeached and plead guilty, what is it you don't get. I don't care what Wikipedia says or answers dot com. In school our professors do not want us to use those sites for research because they are in many cases not accurate. The impeachment process and charges against him ended with his guilty plea and not before. You can not be pardoned for the not committing a crime or not having been found guilty of said crime.

You are saying he was pardoned for something he had not been found guilty of by the courts or by his own admittance. Not possible:)

You are correct about the accuracy of websites, which use fluid facts. Use Congressional Quarterly instead. Get your facts.

Bottom line: no he was not impeached.

No crow for me!

Nixon new by accepting the pardon he was admitting guilt. He accepted the charges in the Article of Impeachment without exception. I don't care if he was in China a freeman when he did so. By accepting guilt he completed the Impeachment process. First the Articles of Impeachment were drawn up. They were voted on to proceed. When he accepted the pardon he jumped that process to its end. The final outcome, his guilt.

Gee whiz, NOW who is jumping at straws?

a lot of steps, most of them behind the curtain.

~Mark Twain

Right and all those dances revolved around the fact that Nixon would be accepting guilt if the pardon was to be issued. The democrats insisted that he did and made sure to suggest that in the press. No guilt, no pardon. Can't be done.

Merriam Webster, "Pardon; an act of officially saying that someone who was judged to be guilty of a crime will be allowed to go free and will not be punished".

"Who was judged to be guilty of a crime"....."Who was judged to be guilty of a crime".

Guilty of what, all the charges in the Articles of Impeachment. Even Gerald Ford can't change the definition in the dictionary and deem a pardon something it is not. A pardon by its very nature is given to show forgiveness for a crime. In other words, you have to admit a crime has taken place to offer it and in Nixon's case admitting to a crime in accepting it.

Honesty is the first chapter of the book of wisdom.
Thomas Jefferson

I see you gave up on just wanting a cookie.
