I'm not surprised that there are only 2 posters in this thread. After we hear from Rap, Geezer, and Six, there may not be anybody else.

Saw a piece over on Slate this morning:

ans_affairs_scandal_why_the_treatment_of_our_veterans_is_a_genuine.html

Why the VA Scandal Is the Real Outrage

Quote:

There is a cost to being perpetually outraged. We have nothing left when something genuinely terrible is exposed.
By John Dickerson

I agree with Mr. Dickerson. We've had six years of folks screaming at max volume about nitpicky stuff that was Obama's fault, impeachable offenses, high crimes and misdemeanors; even, remember?: that his birth certificate was a forgery, he was a Kenyan, not born in America, ineligible to be President and had to be removed, on and on.

It's beginning to sound A LOT like the boy who cried wolf.

Now along comes this VA thing. That is a real, GENUINE, disgrace-- poor and improper treatment of those patriotic ex-soldiers who we all love so much, and who have sacrificed so much, and who we DO owe so much.

But there's nothing, yet, to link it to Obama, or even Shinseki, who was right about the Afghan and Iraq wars in 2003, remember. Sounds, so far, like incompetence or corruption in the middle management. But it did happen on their watch, and they're responsible.

Unfortunately, it's being picked up by Jong and Whoz, and will be echoed by the usual suspects, here, in the media, and in Congress, so that it's already sounding like another mud-slinging attack for partisan gain.

Y'all have used up all your credibility long since, and you don't help yourselves much by starting off with inflammatory posters.

In an opinion piece in the Washington Post Monday, former George W. Bush speechwriter Marc Thiessen quoted a report from the Government Accountability Institute, a conservative research organization, asking why President Obama is “skipping“ his daily intelligence meetings and only showing up 44 percent of the time.

Thiessen quotes the report as saying that through mid-June 2012, the president “attended his PDB [presidential daily brief] just 536 times — or 43.8 percent of the time. During 2011 and the first half of 2012, his attendance became even less frequent — falling to just over 38 percent. By contrast,” Thiessen writes, Obama’s predecessor (and Thiessen’s former boss, it should be noted) “almost never missed his daily intelligence meeting.”

The White House responded by calling the column, which is currently one of the most read on the Post’s Web site and has sparked nearly 5,000 comments, “hilarious.” White House spokesperson Jay Carney said that Obama gets and reads the presidential daily briefing document every day and is “a voracious consumer of all of his briefing materials. And when he is physically here, most days he has a meeting in his office.” Meanwhile, National Security Council spokesman Tommy * DUDE * Vietor wrote in an e-mail to Politico that “the President is among the most sophisticated consumers of intelligence on the planet” and that “most days when he’s at the White House receives a briefing in person.”

Sheeeeit, y'all Conservatives ruined the shit out of that when ya went after Clinton for a blowjob instead of NAFTA and all that shit goin down in Mena, blew yer own credibility to hell and started down the road to the laughingstocks you deserve to be for it, since every attempt to step OFF that lunatic path has been met by advancing the throttle instead.

Frankly, they shoulda impeached Ford and *every* president since Carter (who didn't do a great job, but a passable one), in most cases for very damned obvious reasons, party be hanged.
But it ain't Bengazi, so really STFU about a disaster you BEGGED FOR TO HAPPEN, HELPED CREATE, and then cried a fuckin river of tears when the shit WE TOLD YOU WOULD HAPPEN came to pass, okay ?

Quit wailing and whining and denying your own culpability and attack the Prez on the main fucking issues he should be called out for, like not reining in the Military-Industrial-Intelligence combine, cause THAT more than anything else is both actionable, and supportable by all "sides" of the issue, including Anarchists like me.

BTW, does it bother anyone that the center of the problem seems to be in Phoenix, Arizona, that reliably ( conservative and ) Republican state, home of John McCain?

Have the names and political affiliations of the top administrators in Phoenix been published?

If they can't blame Obama, its irrelevant.

But yes. Arizona sucks in one more way, now.

Yep, this was an opening for our RWA's to post, "The guy's a lib'rul Democrat, and the Lame Stream Media is so biased it's not reporting it."

The deafening silence is evidence that that ain't so.

I dug into Google, and the hospital's website, and found the guy's name-- which I forget already-- but nothing of his history or politics. He does seem to have come to Phoenix from Florida, another good Republican state with a rep for corruption.

NAFTA was a very important fuck-up, but wasn't "sexy" enough.
