I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.
Quote:Yesterday, Michael Bociurkiw, spokesman for the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), made it absolutely plain that it was the Ukrainian government offensive that halted access to the crash site. Speaking in Donetz, he said: “We’ve been dealing with the [pro-Russian] separatists for three months and since the crash happened we’ve had access every day until this [fighting].” Bociurkiw said both sides had been clearly informed of what the investigative team was trying to achieve and given precise details of intended route movements, who was in the cars and the vehicles’ number plates. “There’s no excuse for anyone not to know the stakes in this. They are huge. One third of the passengers’ bodies are still out there. There’s a lot of debris there.”
Quote:The Hague (AFP) - Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte called Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko Tuesday to ask Ukrainian forces to stop fighting around the MH17 crash site, a government spokesman said. "The prime minister this morning called the Ukrainian president with a request to halt hostilities around the crash site," Jean Fransman told AFP, after fighting with pro-Russian separatists prevented international investigators reaching the site for a third day. Poroshenko told Rutte he would do everything possible to allow investigators access, Fransman said. "Rutte expressed his concern about the fact it appeared the investigators may today yet again not reach the site," Fransman said. "This is important because we want to get to the crash site as quickly as possible to get the victims and bring them home. Mr Poroshenko said that he will do everything possible to make access possible." The Ukrainian military confirmed early Tuesday that violence was still raging. "Pockets of insurgents are continuing to fire on Ukrainian positions from the towns of Snizhne, Torez and Shakhtarsk," it said, referring to towns within about 30 kilometres (18 miles) of the site. The fresh conflict came a day after rebels admitted Kiev had regained control over part of the vast site, where the remains of some of the 298 victims from the MH17 crash still lie 12 days after the disaster. Kiev would not confirm the rebels' claim, saying only that its troops had entered a string of towns around the scene.

Military spokesman Andriy Lysenko predicted that sometime “soon,” the Ukrainian army would oust the pro-Russian separatist rebels who currently control the fields and towns where the debris is scattered. But even then, he said, investigators will not be able to visit the site until the mines, which he said have been laid by rebels, can be cleared." http://www.voanews.com/content/russia-defiant-in-face-of-tougher-sanctions/1967850.html International observers in eastern Ukraine have turned back from the crash site of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, after pro-Russian separatists once again prevented them entering the area. European officials said after discussions with the rebels at the site, the observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe returned to their base in the city of Donetsk. Not mines, but blocked by Separatists: http://news.yahoo.com/obama--pro-russia-separatists-stealing-malaysia-airlines-crash-evidence-155449925.html “Unfortunately, the Russian-backed separatists who control the area continue to block the investigation. They’ve repeatedly prevented international investigators from gaining full access to the wreckage,” including by firing their weapons into the air when the teams approached the site, Obama charged. “These separatists are removing evidence from the crash site,” the president said. “Moreover, these Russian-backed separatists are removing bodies from the crash site, oftentimes without the care that we would normally expect.” http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/18/mh17-crash-pro-russia-rebels-block-access-ukraine MH17: rebels block access to part of site of crash as evidence against them grows First OSCE investigators to the scene retreat after hour-long standoff with armed separatists who fired warning shots http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/ukraine/10977705/MH17-separatists-block-international-observers-from-crash-site.html That's 5 - how many do you want?

Quote:He denied that the observers had been fired at by pro-Russian rebels, but said one gunman fired shots into the air, seemingly to scare off some civilians.
Quote: Bociurkiw [the same official who complained about Kiev later] said the OSCE intended to visit the site again on Saturday and spend the whole day there. "We unfortunately could not get much done today because of the behaviour of the armed individuals and the lack of access," he said. He said the team could not find anyone to talk to about the airliner's black box, and that it was not clear who was in charge of the territory where the airliner crashed. "The crash site is a very large area and there may be more than one group who holds sway over that area," he said. He added that while the bodies had not been touched - they seemed to be lying where they fell, personal possessions appeared to have been arranged in piles as if "for show". [but not looted] Some of the bodies showed early signs of decomposition. "As for observing close up the wreckage of the Boeing 777 that was very difficult. The armed guards did not allow us very much leeway to leave the roadway and look at the wreckage," he said.

Quote:Ukraine [Kiev] has announced a one-day halt in its fight against separatists in eastern Ukraine to allow international investigators to reach the downed Malaysian airliner's crash site. Kyiv said the move Thursday was in response to a plea by United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to stop fighting near the crash site.
