I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

The Supreme Court has been busy!

Supreme Court rules in favor of gay marriage nationwide

Marriage equality affirmed.
Obamacare upheld.
Confederate flags flung to the dungheap of history.

All in all, a pretty bad week for assholes.

In other words, a great week for progress!

yes, hooray and thank buddha that decency sometimes prevails.

And then there is this...

-are-willing-to-die-opposing-marriage-equality
/

Quote:

Now, Glenn Beck and his fringe religious friends are sounding their own alarm and proclaiming that there are at least 10,000 members of their “Black Robe Regiment” who are willing to die resisting the fictitious persecution of Christians in America that they’ve been predicting for years. Via Right Wing Watch: “The number in the Black Robe Regiment is about 70,000 now,” Beck said. “The number that I think will walk through a wall of fire, you know, and possible death, is anywhere between 17,000 and 10,000. That is an extraordinary number of people that are willing to lay it all down on the table and willing to go to jail or go to death because they serve God and not man.” Garlow was in complete agreement, saying that the necessity of being willing to die is “honestly where we are.” “We’ve come to that moment,” he said. “People like you and me and, thank God, many others are digging in very deeply and laying the benchmark of where we’re going to stand on these issues.” “You’re going to see these 10,000 to 20,000 pastors begin to stand up,” Beck promised, “and say ‘it doesn’t matter if I lose my church, it doesn’t matter if I lose my building, it doesn’t matter if I lose my life, I will not sit down!’” (Source) Martyrdom and sacrificing yourself for your religion? Where have we heard that before? Doesn’t that sound an awful lot like radical jihadists, the same people who right-wing alarmists want us to declare war on, even though they share a lot in common?

One pastor had promised to set himself on fire if marriage equality was affirmed by the court. Oddly, he now doesn't want to go through with it. I'd call that preacher a liar, but that would be redundant.

I agree, why!?, well consider the "bashing" of those of us who have deep tans. This could very well pass onto those who love someone of the same sex, or, well the LGBT community..........to talk plainly about it.

I recently experienced racism in a predominately white community. My niece and I traveled to a northeastern town, close to the Canadian border (yes, in that area) to attend her daughter's high school graduation. She made a reservation in a Days Inn several weeks prior, and was told upon arrival the day before my grandniece's ceremony that there was no room at the Inn.

The manager politely explained how his boss went ahead and cancelled the reservation unbeknownst to him. There was nothing he could do and that, because of the manhunt, all the rooms were booked. My niece reminded him that her booking was done weeks before. BLANK STARE, SHOULDER SHRUG!
My niece asked why wasn't she informed with a phone call so other arrangements could be made, the answer we got was "we can't call everyone, we have over one hundred guests."

"But," he continued, "I have made several calls to find you accommodations, and found a hotel on Exit 34. They have over 90 rooms." The parking lot in the Days Inn told a different story. It had about 10-15 cars parked in it's parking lot. Plus, you don't have enough time to call your customers who have traveled quite a distance, but you do have time to call around to find "other" accommodations. Not even a fucking email to advise about the cancellation - BULLSHIT!!

A poor ramshackle roadside motel some 10 miles down the road. I half expected the banjo player from Deliverance to come out and start picking his banjo while rocking in a rocking chair (which they had in our one-room rental). Mind you we were on Exit 37.

We went to La Quinta Hotel across the way and they were obnoxious and rude to my niece. "No rooms for 30 miles" was her response. Really!? Bullshit!

Well, I say Fuck you. Keep your fucking bullshit. Just come out and say it, we don't serve your kind here! At least be honest about it. Funny thing is that our money is as green as anyone else's. In Florida I stayed at a La Quinta and got way better treatment than up in the northeast La Quinta hotel. Is it backlash for the Obama presidency? Could be.

The roadside motel's manager was a kindly old lady with a cane and about 5 dogs milling about the "office." She was watching my favorite TV news outlet - Fox News. Obviously we were in Republican conservative country. No fucking wonder!

The LGBT community is in for a fun ride! Hang on to yer hats!

Christians v. Gays

Funny how Christians often come across as the least christian of people.

“When you elevate a lifestyle to the status of a civil right, I don’t think a lot of believers fully understand or comprehend that once it’s risen to that level and our government accepts it, then anyone who disagrees with it could be at least civilly liable, but more than likely would be criminally liable,” Huckabee, a Republican presidential candidate, told Decision during a recent visit to the Billy Graham Library. “The impact is this: A pastor getting up in the pulpit and proclaiming God’s Word that marriage is the act of one man and woman joining together for life would violate the civil rights of a same-sex couple. … That would make it a criminal act.” Proponents of same-sex marriage—backed by the Obama administration—say LGBT couples are being discriminated against and deserve marriage equality protections. Regardless of how the case turns out, Huckabee made clear that the true definition of marriage will stand. “Even if the Supreme Court rules that same-sex marriage is OK, it doesn’t make it OK because the Supreme Court is not the Supreme Being,” he said. “The ultimate rules for marriage were not made by the Supreme Court, but by God. He is the One who gave us the blueprint.”

Didn't his God also make gays? What's up with that Mike?

So, let me get this straight (no pun intended). Huckabee says God's law is the ultimate law of the land, topping that of the government.

So, according to that logic, I could go up to Trump and say that God wants me to have the ownership of the building known as Trump Tower and he could not dispute it - because it is God's Law. His deed would be invalid and non-enforceable because it was obtained by secular/governmental law.

I like his approach and way of thinking. Hey Trump, get off my property. God said so!

I'm still waiting for Alec Baldwin to leave the country when Bush Jr. got re-elected....

Fortunately, one of my favorite actors, Johnny Depp, stood by his guns and left the country after it happened.....

Then again, even in an age where Movie Stars regularly do TV shows like 30 Rock, Johnny Depp couldn't be bothered with that juvinile crap since 21 Jump Street.

Personally, I wouldn't shed a tear for anyone who lit themselves on fire now. We live in the land of the free. You're free to douse yourself with gasoline and light yourself on fire any time you choose.

My ideal America right now, as to the issue of Gay Marriage is "Everybody Shut the Fuck Up about Gay Marriage".

1. I'm happy they have the legal right with the state, and all the tax benefits that come with that. (Look at my past posts.... I've ALWAYS felt this way about the issue).

2. Don't EVER try to legally force a church to recognize that right. (Ditto)

3. The gays can fuck on the steps of City Hall for all I care if it means I don't have to hear about it EVERY..... SINGLE.... DAY.... OF.... MY.... LIFE. Period.

Do Right, Be Right. :)
