Check this out...

Apparently, there's some "loophole" where Mexican illegals are deported immediately, but non-Mexican illegals are held pending getting them transportation back to their country of origin - can't just throw them back across the fence. The problem, we don't have enough space or resource to actually hold them, so they are let go on their own recognizance and told to return on a certain date for their hearing - except the no show rate is around 98%. Good Grief! "... of the 8,908 notices to appear that the immigration court in nearby Harlingen (just one court in Texas alone) issued last year to non-Mexicans, 8,767 failed to show up for their hearings"

Just the # of Brazilian illegals captured by Border Patrol has skyrocketed from 1241 in 2000 to 22000 (so far) in 2005.

The problem is so bad that they come across the border in well known places, then sit and look for the border patrol people to show up, finally actually approaching the border patrol agents and surrendering to them. Because everyone in Brazil knows that is the way to get a free bus ticket into the USA. Just walk across and the Border Patrol will let you loose.

You have to love a double standard.

But it just proves that we(people/government) aren't serious about border control.

Not to derail you here, but does that mean you're a Valley boy, Jason?
