South America is now another threat to our way of life.
We must make the little brown peeps understand: Not gonna happen.

Hmmmm...Nazi Germany started small, yeah- that's the spin!

How about: A lot of drugs come from Colombia, therefore the country is evil, and Colombia and Venezuela are sort of identical because the peeps look the same and speak the same funny language, so let's go invade Venezuela!

Chavez is much more a Stalin then a Bolivar.

And Brazil is not about to let Venezuela dictate for all South America, so a united South America is as likely as a united Asia without including China. Not to mention that Spanish aint Portugese.

Nah.... been there, done that with Noriega. Funny, but the flow of drugs didn't even take a little breather after we invaded Panama. OTOH, most Americans don't remember history so they can get fooled over and over. Might work.

Hugo Chavez is a leftist dictator in a red suit.

Only people I know who wear red suits are pimps & seasonal Santa Clauses. Let's see...he's nationalized all industries there, he's shut down TV stations & newspapers to stifle free speech, and imprisoned & executed his political enemies....why he's....he's....Castro re-incarnated...this time without the Army fatigues, but with his swell, bright red & purple polyester jump suits...just perfect for entertaining his distinguished and gracious company on weekends...Castro, Achminassholeijhad, Kim "Ill in the head"Jong, etc etc, and various other wonderful juman beans from every shithole on Earth. I had coffee & an empanada this weekend at Cafe Canola in Ft. Lauderdale...owned by a Venezuealan-American family. I cannot put down the words that they had to say about this violent, dangerous monkey.

Do we do anything about him? No...sorry Mr. Robertson, we do not. He's quite amusing actually, sort of the Anna Nicole Smith of world political leadership.

Curious ShinyEd, do you have a link to a non-hawkish site for that? I wanna know for real if he's actually that type.

"My trip is to explain as clearly as I can that our nation is generous and compassionate [if you have something we want] -- that when we see poverty, we care [just, you know, not so much], that when we see illiteracy, we want to do something about it [so you all can read our rules], that when we find there to be a deficiency in health care, we'll help to the extent we can [when we're not pouring all our money and resources into war, which, I guess, is, like, most of the time recently]."

Wow. Didn't think Bush was usually that honest.

But their passion would prove to be no match for the passion of the supporters of President Hugo Chávez as he was challenged by Manuel Rosales, governor of the oil-rich Venezuelan state of Zulia. (Rosales was generally referred to simply as "the opposition.") While voting is voluntary in Venezuela, a right guaranteed by the Constitution, all but 1.1 million of 16 million people over the age of 18 are registered to vote. There are 11,000 polling centers around the country, even in local jails. In the end, 70 percent of the population exercised their franchise.

Dictator?
ShinyEd, I question your use of the term.
If you're not a capitalist, or a capitalist puppet, you're a dictator???
Am I getting this wrong?

Chrisisall

Edited to add: technically...okay,the term is applicable. It's just when I think dictator, I think Idi Amin, or Saddam.

At the same time, the right-wing National Review published a cover story by Pres. Bush’s top Latin America aide during his first term, Otto Reich, a Cuban-American, on “Latin America’s Terrible Two,” referring to Pres. Chavez and Cuban President Fidel Castro. The magazine’s cover, with a photo of the two men in close conversation, featured a banner reading “The Axis of Evil ...Western Hemisphere Version.”

“It’s as if these people have a compulsive need to see Latin American reality only through a Manichean lens, whereby they have to identify an evil force to mobilize against and the complexities of the region get simplified into these dualisms of good and evil,” said Geoffrey Thale of the Washington Office on Latin America, a human rights group.

“We’ve been dealing with Castro as evil incarnate, and we’ve made ourselves a laughing-stock throughout the region and done nothing to effectively encourage democratization and human rights in Cuba,” he added. “If we approach Chavez the same way, we’re likely to have the same results.”

"Sudan President Bashir answers questions via live satellite for the press and Black America.

...Western, so-called “experts” say an estimated 200,000 to even 400,000 people have been killed and 2.5 million driven from their homes in Darfur since 2003. The true number is closer to 9,000, stated Pres. Bashir."

Just enjoying the irony that you ask others to provide unbiased sources for their claims, and then use Final Call as a source for yours.

The story does NOT state that the president there was CORRECT; it merely reports his claim, unlike many 'news' sources that state that the war on terror is effective, or claimed that WMD's definitly existed.

I'm enjoying the irony that you think of yourself as an unbiased, objective observer of events, yet you're really a (pardon me, PN) sheeple, like most.
