Quote: The state lost 173,000 people in the year ending July 1. It is the first time that Los Angeles County and all nine counties surrounding the San Francisco Bay have lost population in the same year. Together, those two areas account for more than 44% of the state’s nearly 40 million people. Additionally, populations declined in seven of California’s ten counties that have at least 1 million people, according to new data released Friday. The state’s population is calculated twice a year. The first report comes out in May for the estimated numbers of the previous calendar year. The second report, in December, estimates the population for the previous fiscal year, which ends June 30. California reported its first-ever annual population decline back in May when the state said it lost 182,083 people in 2020. Friday’s data shows that trend continuing with a loss of 173,000 people between July 1, 2020, and July 1, 2021. Critics blame California’s high cost of living for the exodus. That includes Republican lawmakers who pointed to the declining numbers as proof people are fleeing the state, frustrated by the Democrat’s policies since they govern the state. The latter counter that the pandemic and a declining birth rate is to blame.

The time has come for the people of California to face facts, its time to go. For the illegals, they can all just head south, everybody else, load up your wagon and go east. I suggest Northeast Ohio. We have a mild climate, good rainfall, and the Browns. I also heard that Tennessee is nice this time of year. I'd avoid the Gulf Coast, what with the near constant devastation caused by the daily hurricanes since Katrina. Lets see, I'll be glad to donate space for any hot blondes who need shelter...New York can handle the Hollywood types...and the gays can find a spot in John Kerry's mansion, or at John Edwards' little house...Ahhnold can be governor wherever he lives... Quote:Droves of residents fled Democrat-run states with surging crime and COVID-19 restrictions last year — with New York, New Jersey and Connecticut among the five that suffered the steepest losses, a sobering new survey shows. New Jersey led the nation with 70 percent of the people involved in moves fleeing the Garden State, compared to just 30 percent who migrated in, according to United Van Lines’ 45th Annual National Movers Study. Illinois — home to crime- and shooting-ridden Chicago — came in second with 67 percent of the moves recorded were of residents leaving the state, while just 27 percent were in-bound. “The study also revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic continued to accelerate many decisions to move, indicating that Americans were on the move to lower-density areas and to be closer to their families throughout last year,” United Van Lines said in a release. And sunny California is no longer the Golden State — with more people leaving than “California Dreamin’.” California — long a driver of population growth — was fifth-worst for movers heading for the exits, with 59 percent fleeing the state while only 41 percent of newcomers moved in. All five states with the highest outbound rates have a few things in common: they are run by Democrats, are high-taxed and suffer from spikes in crime.

Quote:... Illinois ranked second among states for the largest exodus of people in 2021 as measured by the flow of moving trucks, according to studies by two large companies. The study by Fenton-based United Van Lines, which tracks the company’s data for customers’ state-to-state migration patterns, found that Illinois had an outbound migration rate of 67%, trailing only New Jersey at 71%. Illinois has appeared on the top outbound list in recent years, United Van Lines said. Sixteen states had a higher outbound rate last year than Missouri, at 52%. In a study by U-Haul, Illinois ranked only behind California for the largest net loss of one-way U-Haul trucks. It is the second consecutive year those states have held that low position. Eleven states had higher net losses than Missouri. ...
