I'm glad someone's paying attention; they were very careful to give us gloves and even BOOTS when we cleaned up beaches; and the after effects can still be there.

Concerned about people who are working to clean up the Gulf oil spill, a Louisiana congressman has asked the White House to set up temporary health care centers along the Gulf Coast to serve volunteers and workers.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Charlie Melancon envisions such clinics as providing "medical checkups to people who have come in contact with the oil and assist in monitoring the health effects of the oil leak on south Louisianians."

"Many residents and volunteers are being exposed to hazardous materials on a daily basis, and some will have to travel hours to get treatment at the nearest health care facility. It is imperative that temporary health care clinics be established to provide basic health care services in this geographic area," he said.

I'm glad he didn't limit it to just the clean-up workers, either; I hope they've warned the population to stay away from anywhere it shows up, or get those clinics and make sure they're open to THEM as well.

"I'm just right. Kinda like the sun rising in the east and the world being round...its not a need its just the way it is." The Delusional "Hero", 3/1/10
