...so I thought I'd give ya's a heads up

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=39460

I'm going to stick with my predictions, the Republicans will gain;

64 seats in the House

9 seats in the Senate

Democrats should do OK in N.Y. but I still think the Delaware Senate seat is a toss up.

I may really watch MSNBC on election night, watching those Democrat whores start crying may be funny as hell. I hope Olbermann loses his mind and says something that gets his crazy ass fired, I think it's safe to say he'll say something looney......and he's stupid.

And then I'll be laughing at yours shortly after. Because the United States will be in a political deadlock, and unable to do anything to prevent our economic free-fall. Meanwhile, China, the EU, and.... well, just about nation that doesn't have its head stuck up its collective ass... is going to forge ahead.

This is what happens when a significant portion of a population is propagandized to the point where they can't see reality. Personally, I can see hyperinflation in some sectors, deflation in others, a collapse of our military empire, and possibly even a reversion to fascism as tea-baggers keep pushing the same stupid agenda that didn't work the first couple pf dozen times they tried it. I wouldn't even be surprised if we wound up in another cock-and-bull war to distract from our economic failures. Doesn't even matter which country... pick one. We've a great history of rummaging through a pile of names and then inventing some sort of "reason" for invading.

And you'll be able to hear me laughing from halfway around the world. And all my forum friends can come and visit. But not you. YOU I'll take a special joy in watching you crawl back to the massah for another whipping.

Reality... she's a bitch, yanno?

So, Zit...

How long before health care reform is repealed?

How long before Social Security is scrapped?

Unemployment? Minimum Wage?

How much of the defense budget do you think Republicans will cut? You DO realize that that's the single biggest chunk of discretionary spending in the budget, right?

I'll be laughing at your pain when not one of the promises the tea-baggers made comes to pass. Anyone remember Scott Brown, and how quickly he changed his tune the second he got into office?

That you think any of the rest of 'em are any different, is the truly pathetic part.

Don't think of it as "leaving your country", then. Think of it as your country leaving you.

Besides, only fools have any sentimental patriotic notions of "my country" anymore; the rest, the REAL capitalists and free marketers, know full well that the only colors that really matter are green and gold. They'll sell out you, me, and anybody else in a heartbeat if it helps their bottom line. "Country" has no meaning to capitalists; it's just a ploy to get fools to do their bidding, by appealing to some idiotic nationalism instilled in them.

Your "country" doesn't care any more about you than it cares about the thousands of its own "best and brightest" that it gleefully feeds into its own for-profit war machine.

A gain of 4 or 5 seats in the senate, 25-30 in the house, for the GOP. Neither will grant a majority, but it will break the blue supermajority.

So you haven't noticed what's going on in Europe recently? France is grinding to a halt because the citizenry can't stand the idea that they might have to work until they're 62 instead of 60 (US is 67). Spain, Greece, and Ireland are in the crapper. The EU is strained.

China is doing pretty well because their take on political and economic ethics makes Bernie Madoff look like a saint. This is your exemplar for the improvement of the world?

And our system is less corrupt than China's?

In any case, both China and Europe (and Brazil and a many other nations) understand their economies need to be balanced between production and consumption. China is seeking to expand its internal market and the EU is stabilizing its internal demand while cutting deficits. Meanwhile... we spend more on the military than all other nations combined. That expenditure is neither helping us become more productive, nor is is boosting our civilian aggregate demand.

So just watch what happens Geezer.

Someone telling you to "shut up" is not a denial of your free speech rights unless that person is acting under the color of governmental authority (unless the govt is placing a content neutral reasonable time, place, and manner restriction on your otherwise free speech).

Congress can't shut you up...but private citizens can (so long as they don't violate other laws in the process, for example...they can't threaten serious bodily harm since that would be aggravated menacing, but they can kick you off their property).

In other words, European governments are finding that they can no longer afford to run their social welfare systems at such a huge deficit, and are scrambling to keep semi-solvent. Some (Spain, Greece, Ireland) haven't. Meanwhile, their citizens are so used to government largesse that they aren't going to accept that the gravy train has left the station, and will further screw up the economy by massive work stoppages, a la France.

Geezer, what some of the European nations have found is that they failed only to the extent that they followed the US model, which was: boost consumption on credit, based on a housing bubble made of opaque and specious financial products. The problem was helped along in no small way by Goldman Sachs playing with sovereign debt. Their financial crisis was not due to social spending. Indeed, social spending averted it.

The difference between them and us is that they have a plan to forestall the financial crisis from becoming an economic one, and this plan is actively pursued by various government levels, up to and including the EU. Yes, some people are unhappy, and they have a reason to be: their governments took a page out of the USA playbook and they got burned.

But not all European governments are the same. FOUR nations are under stress... the PIGS, specifically Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain. Meanwhile Germany, France, and Sweden are growing quite well economically.

And curiously, the nations which are doing WORST are those with the MOST UNEQUAL distribution of incomes (Higher GINI indicates greater inequality: Sweden 23, France 28, Germany 28, versus Spain 32, Greece 33, Italy 33, Portugal 38.5, USA 45.)

So, here we are: our standard of living sucks and is getting worse, our middle class is being hollowed out, our infrastructure is becoming third-world... in fact, some economists are saying that the USA is becoming its own economic classification (There are developed nations, underdeveloped ones, developing ones, and then there is the USA which is devolving) and all we do is cling to the policies that brought us to this crisis in the first place, meanwhile dragging a bloated military budget along?

Oh, yes, I will truly laugh at your pain! But mostly, I'll laugh at you, Zit, Rappy, and the rest of your kind.

Do you even read the news? Many European countries are having to reduce their social programs, raise retirement age, and increase taxes to pay for their failed social welfare schemes. France is in the news daily, with nation-wide strikes against raising the retirement age to 62 and 10% unemployment. England is planning to reduce funds for public housing by 50% and discussing reducing child supplement payments to the better-off. You also forgot the other I's in PIIIGS, Iceland and Ireland.

Interesting that this plan's most obvious effect is to cut social services and raise the retirement age.

I didn't forget the other I's. Iceland is not part of the PIGS, and Ireland's inclusion is questionable. Bloomberg and the FT said it.

Yes, France and Greece are trying to cut back in social programs to pay for the mistakes of the banks, and the populace is quite rightly fighting back. But Sarkozy is a right-winger; so of course that's what he would do. Nothing like skinning the poor to keep the wealthy comfortable, eh? Parenthetically... WE should be so lucky to get what they're scaling back to!

In the meantime, the GERMANS kept everyone on with shorter hours and the same pay: it's cheap unemployment and helps to stabilize internal demand. And curiously, they're in the best shape.

JS, that was most excellent advice you gave Whozit, tho’ I doubt it can be understood or followed. Would be nice not to have the idiocy floating all over the place, but a number of people here so badly need to believe the predictions out there, it’s possible they’re completely unable to do other than they are...it might say something about being desperate to believe it will come to pass and needing to celebrate NOW in case it doesn’t, I dunno...

Damn, Hero, that’s ever so slightly fantastic! Well SAID! And yes, Mike, to a degree it IS what the Tea Party would like. Total control over everyone because only “they” know what’s best...where it falls apart is that those actually IN the Tea Party wouldn’t be the few favored at the expense of the billions.
Quote:

So, here we are: our standard of living sucks and is getting worse, our middle class is being hollowed out, our infrastructure is becoming third-world... in fact, some economists are saying that the USA is becoming its own economic classification (There are developed nations, underdeveloped ones, developing ones, and then there is the USA which is devolving) and all we do is cling to the policies that brought us to this crisis in the first place, meanwhile dragging a bloated military budget along?
Gawd, Sig, that is just plain elegant, thank you. Need a new word for to to be poetic, tho'... something which means DE-developing...

Story, too, minus the snarks:
Quote:

Anyone with half a brain....knew things would have to get worse before they got better. Those of us with a clue know there is no magical wand that will fix everything.
Again, that is why I wonder if the Repubs aren’t actually TRYING to lose for now so they can take over later, perhaps if and when things get settled down, so they can say “see, <>, things got better under us!”, knowing full well that we’d have had to go through bad times for a while no matter what, and that they can pretend they “did” something to make it better.

I'm not as well versed on the international situation as you guys are, but from what I HAVE heard, I think Sig's right on. And yes, we SHOULD be so lucky as to have even half of what they've got OR whatever they scale back to. As with our Social Security, once people have something, it's pretty hard to take it away. Conversely, as long as people have little, it's damned hard to get them more (at least under our "system").

I'm not sure if you mean they hope to impose such a system or they think one is already in place and are hoping to change that. Neither interpretation is a correct summery of Tea Party politics.

However, I note for the record, that certain members of this board (PN for example), think the US is exactly as I described China. I think even he would agree that those are his opinions about the US (with some Jewish Nazi Satanists mixed in for flavor).

Good point. Actually, it works both ways--except the Tea Party thinks they're not among the "few" now, so they see it as bad; if they were in power, their vision is that they would be the "few" (but they don't think that would be totalitarian).

And no, not a correct corollary to what the Tea Party ESPOUSES. But, albeit subconsciously, a lot like what they'd LIKE.

Meanwhile, China, the EU, and.... well, just about nation that doesn't have its head stuck up its collective ass... is going to forge ahead.

Odd that you'd try to make the point of how great it is here by pointing out how France has it so much better. That really doesn't put the U.S. in a very good light, does it? I mean heck, sure you get to work more hours per week and more weeks per year, but as a reward, you also get to work a good seven years LONGER before retirement! (And if John "Boner" Boehner has his way, you'll get to work until you're at least SEVENTY, and that's if you get any retirement at all!)

But hey, at least we all get to pay among the highest healthcare costs in the world, for some of the worst healthcare in the industrialized world.

Wow, things really ARE great here, huh?

The modern definition of "socialist" is anyone who's winning an argument against a tea-bagger.

I hate Obama's America. You're damn right about that.

Mr. President, you're a god damn, mother fucking liar.
Fuck you, you cock sucking community activist piece of shit.
... go fuck yourself, Mr. President.
