"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

It seems like just about everybody EXCEPT the Republican party hierarchy likes Ron Paul to some extent. They'll never nominate him, though.

Wonder why he doesn't run as a third-party spoiler.

Or as a Democrat.

This is pretty on target. Even my mom likes him, and he's so not her sort, she doesn't even believe what he believes, but he believes it so earnestly.

He won't run as a third party spoiler because he's been there and done that, and learned his lesson. He's just too popular, and that could hand the election to an uncontested election. Uncontested, or virtually so, means that politicians don't have to listen to the voters at all, they are just shoe ins.

He does recommend protest votes and thinks we should all try to make our candidates lose until they fall in line with their constituents views. He doesn't want to remove that pander to the voting base element because he thinks the alternative is more power to the fed.

Picture Obama in three way split, with Paul and Romney, it would be probably solidly 40-30-30 if obama is in a slump or 60-20-20 if he's riding high (maybe 60-30-10) but in such a situation, obama wouldn't have to make any concessions at all to the people.

That's what a ship is, you know - it's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs.
