Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Would come as no surprise to me...I have no doubt whatsoever that Israel and the US are doing everything they can to send covert agents over there. And either not doing it well, or not taking into account that Iran's abilities to sniff them out have become much more efficient. We do tend to under-estimate our opponents often.

No surprise, everyone COMPETENT started leaving when the Bush administration started politicizing it even worse than it already was, and the exodus increased exponentially when they sold out Valerie.

So what they got left is jackboot authoritarians of the jingoistic stripe, incompetent hoo-rahs who stick out like a neon sign as they try ever so hard to play and pretend that whole secret-agent thing while anyone with half a brain laughs at them.

I mean, they'll do shit like use cryptic language and change vehicles repeatedly, but showing off rather than being discrete, in ways that DRAW attention cause they're so OBVIOUSLY suspicious, and then stroke their little egos badge-flashing the cop who thought he sniffed a dope-deal, seem to think technology is still mired in the fifties, and generally seem to be more interested in the phonyass lifestyle and shiny toys (plus, yanno, limitless authority with no oversight) to even care whether the job gets done or not...

Massive waste of time, effort and funding, and for what ?

Especially when you coulda been MORE discrete and far more effective simply meeting your client at Dennys on a busy weekday and slipping the stuff in over lunch - nobody would ever remember you, not even the server, for crying out loud.

Anyhows, our "intel" people being these days, IMHO, some of the dumbest fucks alive, as well as the most rabidly jingoistic partisans cause no one ELSE will work for the train-wreck-tragedy the CIA has become, worse than it ever was and man that's saying something...

There's no way in hell their counterintel people didn't KNOW our spies and provacateurs were there, it's just that they never felt the need to round em up till now - and I wonder why that is.
