Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

By now everyone's heard about her shaking her finger at Obama when he visited. Lady's done some great flip-flopping; after the meeting she wrote about, she said it was "cordial" and "positive". Then she writes the opposite in her book. When Obama mentions it, she gets in a huff and shakes her finger at him. Later she says she respect the office of the President (oh yeah??), then goes on FauxNews and calls him "thin-skinned". Can't seem to make up her mind; or maybe it's more about what audience she's addressing?

I don't need to reiterate the details, as they've been all over the news. Apparently she wanted another meeting with him and he remarked that their last meeting was characterized in her book as negative (tho' she said the opposite to the press initially). She sticks her finger in his face at one point and he eventually walked away. The disrespect to this President is the worst I've seen in my lifetime, and I agree with the journalist who said the following:
Quote:

But what point have we come to when anyone thinks it’s acceptable to put a finger in The President’s face like that? I’m pretty sure that if one of us went to work and decided to talk to our boss with any “talk to the hand action,” that incident would end up in our annual review, so what makes you get the right to do that with the Commander in Chief?
I agree; anyone with any semblance of sense wouldn't dare do that to their boss, but the right seems to think it's perfectly okay to disrespect the President...and through him, the office of the President...these days.

It's all of a piece with the other disrespectful things the right has been pulling since Obama got into office. I've never seen a politician pull the kind of stuff they've been pulling on this President. It's one thing to opine negatively about one's Prez on TV, etc., but to holler he's a liar when he's speaking to Congress or stick your finger in his face? Sad state we've come to.

And yes, of course I know our ultra-righties will justify ANY nastiness directed at Obama, I would expect no less. But I never saw Bush treated this way, nor did I see anything like the numerous other snubs and disrespect tossed at Obama. There IS no justification, as far as I'm concerned, and it's a reflection of the complete lack of civility which the right has come to embody.

Go for it, righties!

He deserves a firm finger wagging. He should be ashamed of himself.

P.s. And a correction. Obama is NOT Gov. Brewer's " boss ". She works for the citizens of Arizona. And that's why she did what she did. Good for her!

Nothing? I may send her a thank you card. NOBODY in the MSM has every gotten into Barry's ugly face, they treat him like a King....and want to have hot sweaty man sex with him.

Atleast she didn't throw shoes at him, that would have given me a huge boner.

It seems Barry was put out with how she described him being aloof and dismissive, on her visit to the White House.

So he just HAD to tell her about it, instead of acting like the President, or something.

Poor Barry. Soon, maybe, he'll come to find that the world does NOT revolve around him.

And Gov Brewer's book ? Its sales are sky rocketing on Amazon.com.

" PHOENIX (USA TODAY) — In a sudden about-face, Gov. Jan Brewer on Thursday evening made public a copy of the letter she handed President Obama during their high-profile encounter a day earlier that dominated national news, the blogosphere and water-cooler conversation.

Brewer had presented the letter to Obama during an official airport welcome that turned into a brief confrontation, during which she pointed a finger at the president.

At one point Thursday, the feisty interaction at the start of the president's visit sent "Jan Brewer" to No. 8 on Twitter's trending topics in the U.S. Online sales of Brewer's book Scorpions for Breakfast exploded. And the "finger wag" led to a petition by state Democrats asking Brewer to apologize to the president.

Brewer continued to defend her actions Thursday, saying she meant no disrespect to the president and explaining that she often gestures when she speaks. She called allegations that their confrontation was a publicity stunt "absolutely ridiculous."

In a Thursday night interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer, Obama shrugged off the tarmac encounter.

"What I have discovered is that -- I think it's always good publicity for a Republican if they're in an argument with me."

He added: "But this was really not a big deal."

Some of the discussion Thursday in the media and on the Internet about the encounter centered on what was in the letter the governor delivered to Obama on the tarmac of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, particularly after her office said it would not be releasing the letter.

When The Arizona Republic requested a copy, Brewer's spokesman, Matthew Benson, said no copies existed and the letter was "personal, handwritten" correspondence not subject to open-records laws.

On Thursday, Benson released the letter, saying: "Unbeknownst to me" a copy was made. "I sincerely regret the miscommunication."

The one-page letter was written in cursive script on Executive Office stationery. The letter touches on job creation, the state's budget, and Brewer mentions visiting the border.

The letter says in part:

"You've arrived in a state at the forefront of America's recovery -- and her future," she wrote. "We both love this great country, but we fundamentally disagree on how to best make America grow and prosper once again. I'd love an opportunity to share with you how we've been able to turn Arizona around with hard choices that turned out to be the right ones. And, of course, my offer to visit the border -- and buy lunch -- still stands."

The governor signed the letter "With respect, Jan."

I'm happy for Brewer that she was able to get some publicity by her ridiculous stunt. Obviously she was pissed off that he called her on her lie of saying theirs was a cordial meeting when the event happened, then writing trash about him in her book. Given by all accounts it was she who was regailing him while he kept his calm, like the gentleman he always is, and merely walked away, she's apparently rather thin-skinned at being called on a lie. He shouldn't have given her the time once he realized what an ass she is, which he should have known all along from her last bid for attention. She's milking it for all it's worth, predictably, and will fade into the background again when she can't get any more mileage out of it.

Beyond being disgusting that these people aren't capable of treating this President with the respect the OFFICE, at least, deserves, it was only amusing to see her fly off the handle and show her true colors, and find the situation perfect for getting back in the spotlight. Again.
Releasing the letter "accidentally" (raise hands who many think it was an accident") will get her a bit more mileage, but not much.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

"I’m pretty sure that if one of us went to work and decided to talk to our boss with any “talk to the hand action,” that incident would end up in our annual review, so what makes you get the right to do that with the Commander in Chief?"

Hello,

I don't think the Commander in Chief is her boss? Is he?

She was rude, but we shouldn't confuse that with a boss/employee relationship.

Point of fact, it was Obama, not Gov Brewer, who was incapable of showing respect. She was warm, cordial and welcoming, up until the President bluntly ignored her request to discuss matters in private, and then whined ( Yeah, REAL Presidential there, Barry ) that he didn't like what she said about him in her book. Sure, Barry will bow over and nearly scrape the ground when meeting foreign heads of state, but when it comes to an much shorter, older white woman, he stands straight up, towering over her, grabs her by the elbow, and tries to scold her. It's at THAT point that she stands up for herself, which I'm sure caught Barry completely off guard. How DARE anyone question THE ONE !

Pitiful, arrogant and egotistical man child, is Barry.

And Niki, where was it said that the letter was 'accidentally' released ?

The Arizona Republic obtained the letter from Brewer's office, which initially resisted, saying the letter wasn't subject to open-records laws and no copies existed. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/27/jan-brewer-letter-obama_n_123

As I understand it, the Dems made all sorts of wild, baseless accusations that the letter was full of disrespectful language, which encouraged the Gov's office to go ahead and release it, to prove how wrong the Democrats were, and that the letter was friendly and open as she was. Until Barry got snippy.

left wing media gets it wrong, again.

Just as they tried to accuse the shooter of Rep.Giffords as being influenced by the TEA party, they tried to lay all this on Gov Brewer.

The template the Left uses, the spin they put on which ever story they can, to put the best light on the President, and trash his opponents, is clear.
