I've been posting about Republicans "eating their own", but it's happening so often now I'm beginning to wonder. Could this be the beginning of Republicans speaking out, actually trying to bring the party back into some semblance of reality, and do they have any hope at all of doing so--or doing so within any reasonable time frame?

Here's the latest:

Laura Ingraham Confronts Marco Rubio Over Immigration Reform: ‘Stop Dividing The Republican Party’

During a segment on Fox & Friends on Tuesday, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) joined conservative radio host Laura Ingraham to discuss the scandals surrounding the IRS and the Department of Justice. The conversation quickly turned to Rubio’s efforts to reform the immigration system where Ingraham and Rubio found themselves on opposing sides of that issue. Ingraham implored the junior senator from Florida to drop immigration reform, stop “dividing the Republican Party,” and focus on Americans’ true priorities.
.....
She noted that her radio audience wants the Senate to stop “dividing the Republican Party” on the issue of immigration and stick to focusing on augmenting the economic recovery.

Rubio insisted that immigration reform is related to the economic recovery because immigration is an economic issue.

“Then do that separately,” Ingraham interjected.

“The problem is that they’re all interrelated,” Rubio countered. He said that one of the drivers of illegal immigration is a filed guest worker program for agricultural workers.

“Not a top priority for this country,” Ingraham shot back. http://www.mediaite.com/tv/laura-ingraham-confronts-marco-rubio-over-i

First of all, I don't see the Republican party focusing on augmenting the economic recovery, or doing ANYTHING but going after Obama, focusing on the recent "scandals" and blocking everything. I'd love it if they would, but since I don't see that happening anywhere, it's something they'd have to START doing in order to "stick to" it.

Second, I agree with Rubio. Immigration and health care are a MAJOR part of our economic problems and I think dealing with all the thing that are harming us economically as a country is important.

Third, I'm noticing more and more influential right wingers speaking up about moderating the stance of the right...enough so recently that I'm almost starting to feel encouraged.

Is this recent in-fighting a good sign, a bad sign, a bad sign in the short run and good one in the long run, or just a mess, I wonder?
