1. Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL): Obama’s tax on tanning beds is racist
Quote:

U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Gainesville, has drawn national attention and scrutiny in recent days for comments questioning the authenticity of the President Barack Obama's birth certificate and declaring as "racist" a tanning bed tax that's part of the Affordable Care Act.

"And I have an Indian doctor in our office the other day. Very dark-skinned. And two non-dark-skinned people. And I said this to him. And they started laughing. And I said 'Have you ever been to a tanning booth?' And he goes ‘No, no need.' So therefore it's a racist tax and I thought I might even go to a tanning booth twice so I can come out and say I've been disenfranchised. I got taxed because of the color of my skin. I mean as crazy as that sounds, that's what the left does. By God, if it works for them, it'll work for us." ( http://www.gainesville.com/article/20130807/ARTICLES/130809638)]

2. Rick Santorum: Liberals Make It Uncomfortable to Shower at the YMCA. Here’s the background: The Town Lake Branch of the YMCA in Austin did in fact ban the “pro-life” group, who had come to town to support Texas’ severe abortion-restricting legislation, from using their facilities because the group was blatantly proselytizing, disrupting other members, and generally using the YMCA as a forum to express their political views. Some YMCA staff even said the group was intimidating the people who worked there.

Santorum flipped this all around by telling the “Right-to-Life” students that this was a leftist plot. “Because they live it. They’re passionate. They’re willing to do and say uncomfortable things in mixed company. They’re willing to make the sacrifice at their business because they care enough… They simply won’t give up. We have the truth and we give up! We have righteousness and we give up because it’s unpopular!”

Of course, right wingers are saying the Y was "bullied" by lefties into kicking them out, but I'll let the YMCA speak for themselves:
Quote:

The YMCA released the following statement about the incident:

A story was issued by Fox News Radio today about a misunderstanding that occurred between YMCA of Austin staff and a group of students from the organization Students for Life.

In light of discussion surrounding the issue, the YMCA of Austin is seeking to clarify our position on the matter.

As a volunteer-led nonprofit organization, it is not our intention to inject ourselves into this issue, nor do we take a position on this issue.

We strive to create an atmosphere that is welcoming to all, where people of all backgrounds are comfortable.

That’s what we were striving to do in accommodating the Students for Life group who were in need of a place to shower.

Unfortunately, in this instance, it caused the political debate to come into the Y.

If any person or group enters our facilities and creates an atmosphere that is disruptive, we have an obligation to our members and program participants to ask that person or group to leave or to refuse them access.

There are appropriate places in which to conduct a political debate, and that place is down the street at the State Capitol, not at our YMCA. http://www.kvue.com/news/Anti-Abortion-group-claims-Town-Lake-YMCA-dis

3. Rep. Louie Gohmert: Brags about having ‘duct-taped’ a defendant’s head, then later in the week manages to blend his Islamaphobia with his anti-Latino racism.
Quote:

"I don't know the judge that's trying this case down in Fort Hood," Gohmert said Tuesday. "I had one guy that was particularly out of line, and I warned him three times, and then we duct taped his head, and we didn't hear from him until it was his turn to talk." idea-for-keeping-order-in-hasan-trial/article_e99ea074-ff60-11e2-8903-001a4bcf887a.html
]

Mind you, that's when he was a JUDGE! Then there's:
Quote:

Gohmert's comments have led to outrage and head-scratching on Twitter after he said that in the wake of the bombing, Americans must remember that radical Islamists are training to “act like Hispanic.”

“We know Al Qaeda has camps over with the drug cartels on the other side of the Mexican border,” Rep. Louie Gohmert said Wednesday on C-Span. “We know that people that are now being trained to come in and act like Hispanic when they are radical Islamists. We know these things are happening. It is just insane not to protect ourselves, to make sure that people come in as most people do … They want the freedoms we have.” http://nbclatino.com/2013/04/17/outrage-as-rep-gohmert-says-radical-is

]

His "reasoning" is that “We don’t have any fear of Hispanics coming into the country.”

4. Rep. Steve King: Global Warming is more of a religion than a science.

Well, he's not the only one playing that game, our own Rap has been at it for ages. But King makes a special fool out of himself with it:
Quote:

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), who might be flirting with a presidential bid, is leaving no doubt about his position on climate change.

“It is not proven, it's not science. It's more of a religion than a science,” he said at a rally in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Tuesday, according to The Messenger.

The Iowa paper reported on King’s appearance at a rally sponsored by the conservative Americans for Prosperity, which has launched a bus tour attacking Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) as the Democrat runs for Senate.

King, who has recently stoked controversy with his comments on immigration, also said that climate change could be a good thing.

“Everything that might result from a warmer planet is always bad in (environmentalists') analysis,” he said, according to The Messenger. “There will be more photosynthesis going on if the Earth gets warmer. ... And if sea levels go up 4 or 6 inches, I don't know if we'd know that.”

He said sea level is not a precise measurement. "We don't know where sea level is even, let alone be able to say that it's going to come up an inch globally because some polar ice caps might melt because there's CO2 suspended in the atmosphere," he said.

For Iowans, he pointed out, there could be more corn. Rising sea levels would mean more rain, more rain means more corn. Simple. Never mind that NASA studies show that, both droughts and rainfall would increase to dangerous proportions with a warming planet. People need to focus on the “positive aspects of global warming,” King said. “I spent a lot of my life cold, it felt pretty good to get warmed up.” http://thehill.com/blogs/e2-wire/e2-wire/316047-rep-king-global-warmin

5. Mike Huckabee: For your weekly dose of Islamophobia

This one is covered in its own thread. The crux of it was his comment: “So the Muslims will go to the mosque, and they will have their day of prayer, and they come out of there like uncorked animals — throwing rocks and burning."

6. Pat Robertson’s Sanity is In Grave Doubt

Yeah, I know that surprises nobody. But he's getting worse. This week, he said, murdering someone in a video game is the same as murdering someone in reality.
Quote:

Robertson recently answered an emailed question on his television program. Should you be unable to see the embedded video (at http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20130805/08553424069/pat-robertson-si
ns-committed-video-games-same-as-real-life-sins.shtml
), the question asked how sins are assessed in video games. Robertson answered by quoting The Nazarene as saying that lusting after a woman was the same as committing adultery (Yay! Thought crime!). Building off of that, Robertson suggested that "that's a virtual sin, if you play one of those [violent/salacious] video games" before gleefully stating he's never played a video game in his life. Then, to drive the point home, he brings up Grand Theft Auto and says "if you murder someone in cyber-space, in a sense you're performing the act whether you like it or not." http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20130805/08553424069/pat-robertson-si

Bear in mind, most of these men are ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES, some are/will be running for office, including possibly PRESIDENT. The GOP really needs to look to its own, in my opinion...

KWICKO

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Yoho also believes that anyone on food stamps deserves to starve. Ironic, since he and his family were on food stamps at one point. His defense? "We had to."

So it's fine for him, but everyone else should starve.

"I supported Bush in 2000 and 2004 and intellegence [sic] had very little to do with that decision." - Hero

"I was wrong" - Hero, 2012

Mitt Romney, introducing his running mate: "Join me in welcoming the next President of the United States, Paul Ryan!"

Rappy's response? "You're lying, gullible ( believing in some BS you heard on msnbc ) or hard of hearing."

Ha, Santorum has a lotta nerve - given how many of these moral purity homophobic types wind up caught out as jackasses projecting the fear of their own sexuality onto others to deny what they are.

Hell, I'd be more skittish about the rightwingnuts, yanno ?
