Well, Jesus' response would be pretty obvious, so I'll go beyond that.

What they're saying is that their not being able to BREAK THE LAW to do what THEY want is persecuting them, apparently: "According to Mayor Butch Lee, because the cross is considered an auxiliary structure it can only be 20 feet high according to local law. The tallest building in the city is two stories, but if the ‘Cross at Brandon’ was to be built as church officials desire, it would be 11 stories high."

They WERE given "dispensation" (apparently, given what the law says) to build one 30 feet TALLER than the law allows ("The city had given permission for the church to build a 50-foot cross, but Thomas said that they really want to erect a large cross that makes an impact."), but that wasn't good enough, they want to be TWICE as "in your face", and any attempt to stop them is therefore an "attack on christians" (...no, dammit, spellcheck, I MEANT it was a small "c"!).

As the Mayor said, ‘We’ve got Christians calling Christians ungodly. It’s digressing to a sad point rather than both sides being in prayer and seeking compromise,’ Idiots.

11 stories... I mean, they still have bits of Ol' Miss that are ghost towns from 2005... and they got the money for an 11 story high CROSS.

Wish, we are in agreement. While I don't find them AS scary, they're certainly scary enough, and the more power they get, the scarier I find them!
