I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Did you make any?

If you did- how's it going?

I just tossed that up there for conversation but didn't have time to expand on the topic. Many people make New Year's Resolutions, and they usually fall into the top ten. Yanno, like ...

Lose weight
Quit smoking
Get a better education
Get a better job
Save money
Get fit/ exercise more
Eat healthy food
Manage debt
Drink less alcohol
Be nicer to the family

But for those of us who've been around the block more than several dozen times, do New Year's Resolutions work? Or are we all just jaded by now, having resolved so many times and failed so many times?

FWIW, I've more or less given up on New Year's Resolutions. Generally speaking, if there's something that I need to change about my behavior I tend to deal with it as soon as I have the emotional resources, not when the New Year rolls around. So I guess they're sort of continuing processes... I have various goals, and I try out different approaches to meeting those goals (generally make things small and do-able) throughout the year if I find I get stymied in one particular direction. Also, I've learned that piece of advice that they ALWAYS give about New Year's Resolutions, or any resolution for that matter: Focus on a specific action, not on a result.
