Seriously....

Teenagers today unless awesomely parented don't even know what Firefly was. The year 2015 will literally begin the first year that people who turn 13 years old were born After Firefly was made.

fireflyfans.net might not be anywhere near dead, but I think the RWED is....

Too many crazy fireflyfans moving on or dying and not enough ones coming to the darkside.

There were days where an unanswered post of somebodies would be buried behind 2 or 3 pages worth of new posts here. I've got a post on a thread that hasn't been answered over 2 days ago and it's like 10 or 12 on the list of the first page.....

Many years before Mad Men, my bro and I shared an apartment. After I bought the big screen TV I was kind of a dick and fell asleep in front of it on the couch. One day I woke up and in the purest definition I'd ever seen at the time (720p) whatever he was watching starred an Angel from Heaven. I would have watched whatever this was to the finish even if it was horrible.

After years of my bro trying to get me to watch Firefly i finally watched the entire run some 4 years after it came out, all because of how hot this girl was.

RWED or not, I'm happy with the last decade.

Everybody drools over Christina Hendricks in Mad Men today.

I knew her when that body was 26 years old and she went by Saffron... or Mrs. Reynolds, if ya nasty!

I'd could easily thread jack here and add a list of shows which were out before I was born, or were on not too long ago, which I never saw in their first run.

But I won't. 6IX is right about a generation of kids who have no idea Firefly existed, until they happen upon it, or maybe browse through mom and dad's ancient "dvd" collection, and find a copy and ask ... " Hey mom, what's 'Firefly' ? " .

Then the discovery can begin.

I'm on line at Starbucks and everyone is paying with their phone. My turn comes and I pull out a $5 dollar bill. It's still called a "cash register", right?

You know something 6IX, I sometimes forget what brought us here...........our love for something shiny..........Firefly!

You touched upon something that's so true, and to bring this up on RWED is poignant in every sense of the word. What you stated belongs anywhere here in this little verse we participate in......FFF.net. We each have our own reason for the love we have for Firefly, and we all come from all over the map, sharing that one little thing in this crazy fucked up world.

For me, I watched a promo that called to me.........a stampede of horses and a fly over by a spaceship........I was hooked. I waited patiently for it's debut and I was rewarded with Firefly. Being a sci-fi geek and a cowboy junkie I was more than hooked by what I saw. Did Fox actually catch lightning in a bottle? The X-Files was cool, but this! This was something else. Fox, I thought, had struck gold! The perfect cast, script and concept to hit TV in quite some time. So much so, that 13 years later, well, we are here.

S'alright Jongs. I can still remember when the stores first started asking whether it was "cash or credit" meaning credit card.

How about a rotary phone? You remember that, a phone that had an actual dial. You stuck your fingers into the holes over the number and turned it.

I remember when the Princess phones first showed up, and you'd have thought we were in the world of the Jetson's, and pretty soon, flying cars and robot maids were just around the corner.

Ah, the Princess Phone ... had a lighted dial, very cool. So was a remote control tv.

Oh, not only do I remember rotary phones, I remember PARTY LINES! Calls for us had a special ring, different from your neighbors', but if you were really bad (we weren't) you could gently lift up the receiver and listen in on their conversation. And if someone else was on the phone for a really long time and you needed to make a phone call, you flicked the latch hook a few times, and if THAT didn't work you cut in on the conversation and said something like "I really need to make a phone call now, get off the phone". Of course, your neighbor might be a little made or embarrassed (or both) the next say.

My older sister had a Princess phone, it also had a special ring to it. In my household we only made a call when it was really necessary, except, of course, for my sister (who would gossip with her church friends).

There was a time when we didn't have a phone in the house and we had to go to a neighbor's house to make a call, especially to my grandmother.

I was talking to a friend and remembering when the movies were dirt cheap. My mother would send my sister and I to go to the matinee on Saturdays and for $5 we would buy 2 tickets, popcorn and candy. We would get 2 movies, a serial, and a cartoon - all for 5 bucks.
