Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Is it Trump's whimsical carrot/ stick negotiating style? Is it behind-the-scenes diplomacy?

Probably not. It looks like one too many nuclear detonations happened at NKs nuclear test site Punggye-ri, the mountain collapsed, and a chimney created by the collapse is leaking nuclear contamination.

If anything, I'd say Kim Jong-un's bromance with SK president Moon Jae-in, and the recent, sudden moves between the two countries to end the Korean War, are an effort to get ahead of, and cut out, any US role in events.

As I thought about it, I wondered how durable this is. My opinion is - likely not very. NK leadership in general has a history of agreement, followed by sudden reneging. Kim may be stalling for time, while his people find and develop a new test site.

"Spoils" evidence, which can be seen by spy satellite, would be evidence such a thing is going on. But if it's happening, or does happen, you can be sure we won't be told about it, just as I'm sure the government knew about the mountain collapse but didn't tell us. We had to wait for Chinese scientists to publish a paper. No, if Kim rebuilds his testing capability, it'll be kept from us and we'll be teated to a presidential theater performance based on nothing real, instead. No matter who the president is.

SECOND has managed to not actually discuss my post at all.
But it does certainly snark and troll at every post.
SECOND is a troll.

Totally agree - theater is all it is. No one gives up nukes. I still have mine.

Wondering - do you think Trump knew the "3 Americans" to be released by NK were... asian? I just have this image of him not knowing and the door to the plane opens and he's like, "Who the? What the? Fuuuuuu....."

That actually got a chuckle out of me. What a missed opportunity.

Could have been Trump's return to reality TV... Ashton Kutcher jumps out from the side and tells the President he just got Punk'd.

I wonder if the one dude that was released from serving 10 years of hard labor for espionage was really just a "businessman". I mean, I have no reason to believe that isn't the case, but then again, I have no reason to believe that it's true either.

Good for him though, either way. What a nightmare that must have been.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Apparently I'm not the only person to think this.

North Korea To Publicly "Dismantle" Its Already Collapsed Nuclear Test Site On May 23-25

While Michael Cohen had impressive success in hustling various corporations such as Novartis, AT&T, Columbus Nova and Korean Aerospace into believing he held a royal flush due to his proximity with Donald Trump, and was paid millions in "consultancy" fees for his "leverage" (even though all that AT&T got out of its $600K payment was a lawsuit and an interview with Mueller, hence the company's admission that "hiring Cohen was a bit mistake"), nothing compares to the feat Kim Jong Un pulled off in the past month, when shortly after the collapse of North Korea's nuclear test site, which effectively precluded Pyongyang from nuclear research and development for the foreseeable future, Kim "voluntarily" agreed to "halt" the country's nuclear program, and leveraged what was basically an earthquake into a historic diplomatic accord and political detente with the US and president Trump.

SECOND is a troll because it constantly misrepresents what people post, fails to address their actual positions, and resorts to personal attacks when its brain isn't working (which is most of the time).
