Yeah. I heard about this yesterday.

Most people would know not to send bitcoin to Barack Obama and Elon Musk with the expectation that they'd double whatever amount you sent to them, but "most people" isn't what phishing is all about.

Not only was it probably an inside job, but it looks like it might have blown the lid off of the idea that there is a department at Twitter that can post things on your behalf.

No sarcasm intended here, really... That's something I am sure they extremely rarely if ever have made use of yet. Eventually that story would come out if it were to happen, and the only way they'd do that is if it were for an agenda so important that they're willing to nuke the plastform to do it.
