Sounds like norovirus. It makes the rounds every few years, especially on cruise ships. It's a hard virus to get rid of because it persists on surfaces for weeks. You can clean hard surfaces with bleach (it's resistant to alcohol based santuzers, hardy little bugger) but what do you do with drapes, beds, carpets, and cushions?

Must be all those wealthy nor'easters who like to cruise to the Caribbean this time of year to escape the cold. It turns into a mini-epidemic onboard then introduced into the general population by returnees.

Who the hell knows what we're letting in with all of these illegal alien invaders. We've already long known that bedbugs are a thing again, and this time we'll never be able to wipe them out because DDT is illegal to use. Bedbugs came right out of children's rhymes and back into our real lives thanks to illegals.

Illegal invaders are coming from everywhere around the world now through Mexico and welcomed with open arms and $10,000 cash cards by Democrats. Maybe one of them brings a virus in that kills most of us off. It's not like that hasn't happened before in this country, and really not all that long ago in the grand scheme of things.

Norovirus peaks in winter. We got it a number of years ago at a birthday party that one sick kid attended. It is THE most common cause of GI illness in most nations around the globe.

It was first isolated and identified as a cause of illness in Norwalk, Ohio, in 1970 and is usually spread thru what the call the oral fecal route or occasionally from vomit aerosols or contaminated surfaces. It tends to run rampant where people are in close contact like cruise ships, and especially poor hand washing like preschool and elementary school, or careless food preparation by underpaid, often undocumented workers.
