I was looking for the Best Theme Song thread in the other forums, but I can't find anything since somebody loves necroposting all the time. I figured I'd post it here since everybody's pretty much in the RWED anyhow.

You guys remember a sitcom called Too Many Cooks?

there's a thread somewhere Batman toons, StarWars tv, Star Trek, Muppets, Golden Girls

its becoming a lots art

I would say any of Leonard Bernstein's he is old school Golden Age of cinema and tv with free public education tv stuff, it can be a little boring but if you watch any of it the theme and melody and music structure and song will stay with you. Leonard Bernstein often did tv work some were a little stuffy but its amazing material and concerts were televised, the guy explains every note and chord and tone interval he plays but it can be difficult to absorb all the info he throws at you in his tv shows.

the thread is around somewhere, Miami Vice, A-Team, Golden Girls, some Saturday morning toons Fraggle Rock Muppets etc Star Trek and Star Wars were listed, at least they made an effort to be theme tunes and Batman animated but its hard to compare to the Golden Age of Hollywood orchestra, dance and song with Gene Kelly, Rita Hayworth and Fred Astaire, the stunt men and slapstick tunes with Groucho Marx and stunt guy Buster Keaton

The best performers were the Live ones in the Golden Ages IMO 1920s and as far as 1960s it changes with new editing techniques for sound film
Leonard Bernstein was a genius if he did tv or a movie and sometimes during the tv shows he explained all his tricks but it took some level of skill and education to understand what the heck musical terms he was talking about!
Tv and movies changed, melody got more simple
songs or themes also got shorter like a commercial advert theme

I am not against tech, electronic music is also good and some toons from Japan the anime have very good music, the X-files theme is interestingly simple catchy spooky
Once a pilot started to succeeded a tv show was 'Green Lit' the Tv intro set the mood, it could be a cut and paste of other scenes from the tv series, it gave you a chance to catch up on a season or introduce you to the characters of the show.
Magnum, P.I. has a great theme all though only 60 seconds long very cheesy.
All kinds of themes work
There can also be something really genuine and 'Raw' about someone singing and strumming or picking a few notes on guitar.
"Due South" was very charming and set a mood, the original Battlestar tried to big massive and orchestra like in Star Wars Star Trek style, Babylon-5 was intresting how voice and the theme would change each season.

Christopher Franke from Germany did the New age Rock psychedeliael ectronica sound Stewart Copeland from the English rock band the Police was involved in pilot for Babylon-5,

he was involved in Tangerine Dream, the Japanese used to also hire him for Japanese toons, very Christopher Franke how he evolves the musical topic

,

always rumors about new Babylon 5 project movie or tv show remake...maybe it can be revived

Popularity you had "The Monkees" a manufactured pop group who wanted to be 'The Beatles' they had two releases with B-sides, some of their chart-topping songs were nice bubblebum pop

I would say Twin Peaks stuff is up there, charted in 15 countries worldwide between 1990 and 1992.

Angelo Badalamenti - Dance of the Dream Man

"Falling" song by dream pop singer Julee Cruise was the more popular hit

Thank you.

"the 'TV Series with unforgettable music' Thread"

I was searching for Best Theme Song and other similar stuff. Now I know why I went about 5 pages into two different forums and couldn't find it.

This was just a joke anyway. Old news too, since this is already 9 years old. I only heard about it the other night and gave it a watch and found it pretty amusing.
