Quote:Pennsylvania home. The following statement is posted on Fetterman's X account: "Statement from Sen. Fetterman’s Spokesperson: "During an early morning walk, Senator Fetterman sustained a fall near his home in Braddock. "Out of an abundance of caution, he was transported to a hospital in Pittsburgh. "Upon evaluation, it was established he had a ventricular fibrillation flare-up that led to Senator Fetterman feeling light-headed, falling to the ground and hitting his face with minor injuries. "Senator Fetterman had this to say: ‘If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!’ "He is doing well and receiving routine observation at the hospital. He has opted to stay so doctors can fine-tune his medication regimen. "Senator Fetterman is grateful for the EMTs, doctors, and nurses who are providing his care." Fetterman's fellow senator from Pennsylvania, Sen. Dave McCormick, posted on X that he's reached out to his colleague. "I reached out to Senator Fetterman and Dina has spoken to Gisele. John is a tough Pittsburgher and is already on the mend. We are thinking of him, Gisele, and their entire family — looking forward to seeing my good friend in the coming days," the post said. While Fetterman is a Democrat and McCormick is a Republican, the two have collaborated on bipartisan issues and spoken about the importance of finding common ground. What is ventricular fibrillation? According to the Mayo Clinic, Ventricular fibrillation (VF) is a life-threatening arrhythmia in which the heart’s lower chambers quiver rapidly and chaotically, preventing effective blood circulation. VF is a medical emergency that requires immediate treatment and is the leading cause of sudden cardiac death.

Quote:DANA BASH, CNN: You said, “I’ve drunk deeply of the venom of both the left and the right. As a connoisseur, I can confirm that the most poisonous, the bitterest, is from the far left.” That is pretty remarkable to hear you say that as an elected Democrat. Why? SEN. JOHN FETTERMAN (D-PA): Yeah, you know, it’s just been my personal experience on this thing. When I asked my digital team — we’re on all the platforms — I said, “What’s the harshest, what’s the most personal?” The answer was immediate. They said, “Oh, Bluesky. It’s Bluesky.” And the difference is, I mean, the right would say really rough things and call me names — some I won’t repeat on TV — but on the left, it was like they want me to die. They were cheering for my next stroke, saying things like, “That’s terrible that depression didn’t win,” or, “I hope your kids find you.” They even had a GIF of a stroke happening in someone’s head — cheering. And they said things like, “The doctor let us down. Why did they have to save his life?” I mean, just really — I can’t imagine people saying that. Wishing death on you. Literally cheering for a stroke. I don’t know what kind of place that comes from. That’s much different than just calling me a name, and it’s been really consistent in that community online.
