The Left has been going totally apeshit over Bush ever since his name was announced as a Republican candidate back in 1999. No amount of criticism of Obama by the Right, whether sincere or politically biased, could ever even register on the deranged-hate syndrome scale that Liberals created and perfected with Bush. But that's their big problem now. Little left to hate, and little to love about Obama's picks for his Administration. Who knew that Obama's famous "HOPE", and "CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN" was just campaign jargon for bringing back the Clinton Follies to America. Thanks Barack. I'm sure Hill & Bill will continue to provide endless fun and fodder for the media vampires to sink their pathetically useless teeth into every night.

Y'know, I was gonna say I missed you bein' around on the other sci-fi movie thread, but you started it off with political shit, so I held off.

And now this.

You are doing EXACTLY what I don't like NeoCons for doing- forcefully positing the idea that your perception is so correct, so free of flaws, and so much the gospel (in the face of facts that contradict it, yet) that you can somehow not feel stupid making a statement like that. You severely disappoint me, Finn, you've degenerated into that which you profess to hate, a hater. And the very fact that you START a sci-fi movie thread with that shit is so telling of your anti-left obsession...I don't remember the last time one of my threads about movies started like; "The new Indy movie must be making Bushites happy 'cause Ford pronounced nuclear 'nuc-u-ler' in the debriefing scene!"
Also, having fun using various forms of the word 'masturbate' in EVERY thread?

If you've come back just to display your resentful God-complex as it applies to your political unhappiness even before Obama takes office, why don't you just continue your sabbatical until you're back closer to center, and in a better mood, eh? This maniacal right-wing shit sounds so childish, and not something I ever would have expected from you in times past.

If this is just temporary, cool. I can't say there weren't times I went off MY rocker with pure emotion & nothing else to back up my angry words...

I hate the legacy Obama has to contend with as of Jan. 20, I love that Obama is talking like we can make this country great again, we need optimism at this juncture.

Feel free to hate this country for the next four years though, it's not like I can stop ya.

So you want me to leave because you don’t agree with me? The appropriate response to that would be “Fuck you,” that’s beneath me.

You conveniently ignore the fact that I’ve already stated that I support Obama as our president. I’ll disagree with him, just as I disagreed with Bush sometimes. But I won’t accuse him of being a sociopath or a terrorist because I disagree with his policies. I won’t call him stupid and idiotic, and wish for a US failure to justify that disagreement, which is more then I can say for you and all your twit friends. So attack me all you want, but you made your own bed, and if you’re not man enough to see that, then that’s your own lack of intellectual honesty.

And you know, after bearing for 8 years the fanatical hatred of Left-wing Bush hating twits, I think I’ve earned the right to tell you off. And the truth is that it won’t be long before I’ll be trying to reason with and criticize the statements of Obama-haters, and when that happens I don’t want you to mistake that with me coming over to your bush-hating twit side. You lost your chance, but maybe I can reason with the Obama-haters. Maybe in four years when the next president comes in I won’t have to tell them off, and that will be the ultimate victory over the Bush hating twits.

Like I said, now the mask comes off, and you folk are seeing the TRUE face of these people, that party, and what they're made of.

Something I occasionally provoked them to do even when they were all so interested in trying to hide it.

This is what they ARE, people, what they've always BEEN, and it is indeed why I am so blatantly nasty to them.

Never fucking forget it - the next time you see some right-winger playing nice, trying to worm into the good graces of the american people while stealthily reaching for the levers of power, remember what's under that mask.

Unless by some miracle they come up with another Eisenhower, the hard-right end of the political spectrum is completely doomed, and frankly, I've known it since I started making "blood in the water" comments long before the election, now you folk are just seeing the last panicked flailing as they reveal the truth of themselves.

This is Shaun Yu, holding them over the volcano, and now we get to see what they're REALLY made of.

And it ain't pretty, is it ?

By definition, anyone in Gov't who wants to " spread the wealth " is a socialist. Governments aren't the source of any real wealth, they simply take from the citizens. So you agree that Bush and company are socialists, then. After all, they've taken money from the citizens to give to Wall Street - how is taking from the poor to give to the rich any LESS socialistic than doing it the other way 'round? Either way, you're "spreading the wealth". Thing is, for eight years and more, it's been being spread upwards, and you haven't had a bad word to say about it.

But it's still a form of socialism, if your entire definition of socialism is that it takes money from you and gives it to others based on their perceived "need".

What 'Rappy and his type don't get is that we already HAVE socialism in this country. OUR money goes for police, fire fighters, hospitals, the military, the national parks, public education, and more.

I didn’t use the phrase “pal around.” That’s your phrase, not mine. But yes, one can associate with a terrorist without being one. I would think that would be obvious.

I’ve never accused Obama of being a terrorist, but that he has connections with at least one domestic terrorist is without question. So that’s all a part of the hypocrisy and dishonesty of the Bush haters that drives me nuts. Some of you accuse Bush of being a terrorist with no justification other then disagreement with US foreign policy, then you get defensive when someone suggests that we should be more skeptical of Obama who actually has real connectiond with a real terrorist. I don’t make that statement based on any agreement or disagreement with any policy of Obama’s or the US – it is simply a fact.

Reminds me of the reporter on the neocon cruise, which someone posted on a thread a while back. I forget who, but it was fascinating. Let me google it...

Relevant highlight:

They rush through the Rush-list of liberals who hate America, who want her to fail, and I ask them - why are liberals like this? What's their motivation? They stutter to a halt and there is a long, puzzled silence. "It's a good question," one of them, Martha, says finally. I have asked them to peer into the minds of cartoons and they are suddenly, reluctantly confronted with the hollowness of their creation. "There have always been intellectuals who want to tell people how to live," Martha adds, to an almost visible sense of relief. That's it - the intellectuals! They are not like us. Dave changes the subject, to wash away this moment of cognitive dissonance. "The liberals don't believe in the constitution. They don't believe in what the founders wanted - a strong executive," he announces, to nods. A Filipino waiter offers him a top-up of his wine, and he mock-whispers to me, "They all look the same! Can you tell them apart?"

I would have thought that the idea of Conservatives hating America, wanting her to fail, was a similarly shallow myth. Until whozit did his thing. It's really quite sad.

I don't call Bush a terrorist, just a war criminal.

Semantics aside, the difference between Bush and Obama would be that Bush has a history of extremely questionable actions. You know, actions. Things he actually DID. Started an unnecessary war. Condoned torture. Spied on American citizens. Gave away no bid contracts to his pals. Oh, and destroyed our economy with his dumb-ass economic policies. He has done things which invite criticism, whether you accept the invitation or not.

Obama merely visited a house once years ago, on business completely unrelated to killing people, and the fact that you cling to this little bitty event only shows the depth of your desperation.

Really, it's pretty close to pathetic.

I see, so apologizing for the President is only defending the status quo if its Bush, because Lord, thy God, Obama is too righteous. And a man who bombs a city to impose political change is only a terrorist if he's not associated with Obama. That’s actually the single worst apology for the status quo I’ve ever heard. Even the narrowest minded Bush advocate couldn’t come up with something that blind in support of an administration.

Well, certainly YOU are whitewashing it. As Chris pointed out, Bush has actually given the order to bomb people, to kill them, to torture them - so he's not "palling around" with terrorists, he's actually using terroristic tactics. And you, like Nixon, seem to be just fine with it; if the president does it, it CAN'T be illegal.

Collateral damage is not a terrorist tactic, nice try. Actually, it’s not a nice try, that was sarcasm. It’s actually pretty stupid. But of course, if you plan on defining that, then Obama is a terrorist too, since he’s the one responsible for the collateral damage now.

Ah, now it’s time for the hypocrisy – let’s hear all about how the rules you define apply only to Bush. All the rules change when your guy is in office, don't they? That's the twitism.

Actually, he's not. Not for another two months, anyway. As much as you'd like Bush to be able to slink out of town, we're stuck with him 'til January 20th.

I did hear that the Secret Service caught a man trying to climb the fence at the White House. They captured him, though, and told him, "Come back inside, Mister President... you've still got two more months."

Yeah, but the "ulta(sic)-Libs" have never been in power in this country--unless you count the founding fathers and their wild, freakish idea of government by mob rule. (Or as we call it today, participatory democracy.)

But for the last eight years (arguably the last twenty-eight)the right-wing has been in control. (Even the swing to the democrats two years ago barely slowed them down, as they used the power of filibuster to block any attempt to dampen their perceived "mandate".)

What's the result of that social experiment? A two-front war that has made our enemies stronger, (A result which, Goddamm it, could have been avoided if we hadn't split our forces to attack a country that had Jack Shit to do with 9/11!), an economy in smoking ruins, and a total abdication of the moral high-ground.

(That last is the worst part to me. Never mind that torture is morally wrong, it's inefficient! Intelligence obtained under duress is always undependable. If you're going to be evil, at least be effectively evil. I don't think Obama's the second coming, but maybe he'll get the stupid people out of intelligence.)

Look, Finn...

You and your ilk *HAD* your chance to forment a reasoned, effective, logical opposition to Obama and his policies, but you squandered it, blew it away in favor of acting like spoiled little four year olds throwing a tantrum cause their playtime ran out, well boo fuckin hoo, not only am I not sorry for you, I am in fact pissed at you cause your own immature stupidity has poisoned the well of ANY opposition, and I'm not thanking you for pissing in MY pool you dumb ignorant jackass.

This act, more than any other, shattered any remaining credibility you might have had around here, which very frankly, isn't that damned much due to your repeated base lies and attempts to shovel the most laughable propaganda as fact even in spite of folks like me having, and sharing, absolute proof that those statements were false.

The scum you supported isn't gonna come to your rescue, having no use for the fools stupid enough to have supported their pending disaster in the first place, and the folks telling you all along these disasters were coming have even less sympathy for you - and the pathetic flailing and lashing out of you and your ilk has lead prettymuch the entirety of RWED to actually *enjoy* baiting you like one baits a cat with a string of yarn, just to watch you foam and fuss cause your own actions and those of the folk like you have reduced you to outright laughingstocks, a mere joke no one even pretends to take seriously any more.

I fear your only remaining redemption is seppuku, all the worse since it's none too likely you'll even find someone willing to offer YOU the mercy of the final headcut, perhaps you could ask Rappy.

AMEN, if we were gonna play at being evil pricks, we coulda manipulated the UN into doing most if not all of the work for us, and parleyed on sympathy and rep to climb into a leadership position and manipulate it to enforce OUR will, getting what we wanted and having them damn near happy to give it to us!

But egos got more important than results, and were we anyone else, we'd have been kicked OUT of the UN by now, certainly we've blown any chance to subvert it by manipulating it's own corruption into a strongarm of US policy.

And torture is the worst possible means indeed, cause it poisons your database with crap that takes time and resources to investigate, and if you skip THAT step, then you wind up torturing one asshole after another who doesn't know a damn thing and just names some guy HE doesn't like till you're torturing a shitload of nobodies, who know nothing, drowning your database in crap and pissing off just about EVERYONE...

And getting no fucking where.

And yet, look out MUCH they got out of Ramzi Youssef in a by-the-book nonphysical interrogation, which if they had not IGNORED in favor of harrassing politically inconvenient citizens, more or less fucking over thier supposed protectees - what happened on 9-11 might not have occured.

They know about Bojinka, he TOLD them about it, and no one followed up cause they were too busy harrassing vegans and peace protesters.

Seriously, they just left that shit sitting in a box for a couple years, I am NOT kidding, wish I was - and since have sent ole Ramzi down for a waterboarding, and the quality of info they were getting out of him dropped like a rock immediately after, which means there's no longer any use attempting to firm up other stuff he gave us before that and making him ultimately useless as a source to predict what others might do in the future.

Way to go, incompetent alphabet goons - who IMHO are a worse threat than all the foreign terrorists in the world put together.

Mal,

My views aren't downloaded, they are my own.

I'm not gullible enough to fall for cheesy one liners Obama has dished out, nor do I agree w/ his political views , that the Gov't needs to 'spread the wealth', when I know damn well that's code for " steal from those who earn to give to those who don't ".
Are you saying you'd wish Pawlenty or Jindal would have been President instead of Bush? Don't know enough about Pawlenty, but Jindal will have to wait his turn. Seems he wasn't OLD enough to run for President in 2000.

You got 1 thing right, it's hard to tell when a Liberal is joking, what with all the absurdity flying around from the Left. Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan, and the like, I use to laugh at the crackpot things they were saying to, until I learned they weren't kidding.

First of all, don't HATE Obama. I just would prefer he weren't my President. Skin color is irrelevant. But that you think his color is an issue, don't tell that to the NAACP, who all but called him a cracker, because he shares no slave blood and wasn't " down with the struggle " , until he won the White House. Now they're cool w/ him. Further - I hate abortions because it kills humans. ( At least 1/2 of those are women, and you speak of women's rights? - Odd that you'd murder so many , for this concept of 'freedom ) I don't hate gays, sorry, that's just more of your simplistic mind being overwhelmed - again. You can't separate an issue on its merit , so you act like a 5 yr old and say " I just hate blah blah blah " . Sorry, you're wrong. I hate poor people because I hate taxes ? I don't think you thought that one out too much. But I do hate excessive taxes and bloated, intrusive Government. True. Freeing mankind from oppressive Governments is a noble cause. You'd prefer millions stay enslaved to a dictator, I happen to see things differently. Not being a Christian, I find your remarks funny.
I'd wish other countries would give their people as much freedom as we all have, here. I gots no reason to control them.
