FANTASTIC comic, Mike; that's a keeper! And haven't we heard every one of those things at one time or another from our righties here? Basically: Right on!

Wulf: Excellently and eloquently said (about unions). I am in 100% agreement. Mike is right, too, about the finer points. It's a shame that unions(just like corporations), for all the good they do and have done, usually end up getting too much power and misusing it. I think that's part of the "human conditon", because the same can be said for about any politician (especially those who start out "doing good"), corporation, government, or group of people. Sadly.

FREMDFIRMA

Briefly Tempting ?
If I actually WERE Libertarian I'd be kind of insulted - but obviously the point to it there is what happens when you meet the other 23, so yeah, I can see that...
Especially since they threw in the shot over the Libertarian Party taking money from known freak-fronts - cause you know the rule, you start out takin their money, you wind up takin their orders.
I am very particular in who I'll take money from for that very reason.

As far as broad brushes go, I already explained that if the clowns in charge of the circus are goin in a certain direction, and you join that circus of your own free will and support it - disagreement with em or not, you *ARE* effectively on that side and supporting those policies and directives.

Don't like it ?
Then don't self-identify with em.
Problem solved.

Believe me, I don't get on too well with other Anarchists, but collectively they don't have that problem cause the very notion of Anarchist "Leadership" is downright ludicrous - not that we ain't got our own issues, cat-herding being foremost among them...

As for the balance of power between Corporations and Unions - far as I am concerned, this was unfortunately decided at Blair Mountain, when it became clear that so long as Corporations were effectively supported by the full weight and power of Government, up to and including military force... that Unions could not fight them directly, because that would involve going head-on with the army, and if they *could* do so, might as well take over!

Ergo, ANY increase in Union power I shall support, no matter how greedy and corrupt the Union, no matter even that it's one of those AFL-CIO punkass secondary ripoffs and sellout employee pacification arms (and thank you SO much Sam Gompers, for fucking over the whole movement you sellout scumbag) - so long as the Corporations are enabled and backed up by the Government, they are the greater evil and thus if it takes a lesser evil to fight them, so be it.

Think of it as a scale, Corporations on one side, Unions on the other - and with the goddamn Government pressing its thumb firmly on the Corporate side so that the efforts of Unions effectively come to naught... ergo, ANYTHING that draws power away from that unholy alliance will in the end have a positive impact regardless of short term harm.
