This is one issue that doesn't matter whether Trump wins or loses.

As I said before, the USA will never have a single year that it runs less than a $1 Trillion deficit, let alone a balanced budget. Or a surplus

It's impossible now. We spend over $1 Trillion per year on interest alone and that just will just keep growing.

Most people can't even fathom what $1 Trillion per year even is. And we buy NOTHING with it.

There are only 17 countries in the world with a GDP higher than our interest payment:

Well then go after the Billionaires.

But they won't ever do that. Democrats had all that extra IRS money and agents that they voted for and all that's ended up in is adding more to the yearly deficit.

STOP SPENDING SO MUCH FUCKING MONEY.

#1 fix? Get the millions of illegal invaders out of our country starting today.

I thought the topic was "balanced budget". Federal debt has been an ongoing problem for years. DECADES. Getting towards a century, even.

And moving towards a balanced budget can be started ANY year, provided there are no emergencies like the GFC, or Covid, or WWIII.

So why focus on a particular year?
To blame Congress, of that year?
To blame the President of that year?
Is it to point out that there seems to be an inescapble trend towards overspending, which always soaks up more than the revenue, no matter how how high?
To try to "logic trap" me to acknowledge... something? (I freely acknowledge that we have a huge debt problem, at all levels of society and government.)
To lay the foundation for your solution?

You're trying to make a point, for a purpose.
What is it?

Strip the tax code of all those corporate loopholes and it won't be so easy to cheat and so hard to catch. 15% of corporate gross receipts on businesses that take in more than a billion.

FWIW ... no, I'm not a libertarian. Having looked at many economic and political systemz, I've come to realize that ANY system can be, and has been, corrupted. Libertatianism, IMHO, corrupts faster than most because there are no moral, legal, or practical limits to it.[corruption] In order for libertarianism to function as I think it's supposed to, there must be healthy competition among relatively small economic units.

But POWER AND WEALTH CONCENTRATE. They don't disperse, they behave gravitationally... the more you have, the more you get. Power and wealth concentrate into fewer and fewer hands until you have the USA today... an oligarchy.

If a government has any function under libertarianism, aside from defending the borders and setting the general laws of society ... I imagine it would be to enforce competition. Unfortunately, since the one thing most businesses hate is competition, big businesses have the money and influence to continue monopolizing more and more.

It's a conundrum.

Our government has 2 jobs, and it's failed miserably at both of them.

Criticize all your want.

But meddling using NGOs, unilateral sanctions, regime change operations, and other nefarious deeds are a no-no.

Yanno... I saw this earlier today but I'd seen so many that I didn't click on it.

That would have been a mistake if I didn't see it for the first time with my friend
tonight as he was scrolling through TikTok in between UFC fights.

"People of Springfield please don't eat my cat.
Why would you do that?
Eat something else.

Woah woah woah woah...
Meow Meow Meow Meow."

The best version I've seen so far.

Hey JSF. I know you're going somewhere with your comment that you would think the best time to achieve a balanced budget is when revenues were their highest.

Yes, I would think so.

So... now what?
