So every ten years a few thousand Americans die from spectacular terror attacks? Even this worst case scenario ain't gonna break us, kaneman. More Americans die in car wrecks and from cancer and from a million other causes and it don't put a dent in the American Way.

You and folks like you are taking the stated wishes of a few outlaws and imaginatively granting them near infinite power to bring their fantasies to fruition. The evil blood-thirsty Koran wasn't written yesterday. The "jihadists" have had hundreds and hundreds of years to get their game on and it's amounted to very little, politically speaking--

--until the neo-cons made 9/11 their pretext for launching a full-frontal power-grab in the Middle East. Because of Bush and Co., these political nobodies have more press than they've gotten in 30 years and more influence than they could have gained any other way. These folks don't even run a country, their infrastructure is constantly under attack and their membership constantly in harm's way and they are not, inspite of American hysteria, gaining ground (and please, don't talk to me about Iraqi "insergents," that is a whole different issue).

Your rant is so misplaced. Do you think I'm advocating that we simply sit back and do nothing, that we should simply and coldly let these people die? Where do you get that idea, kaneman? Man, kaneman, are you new here or what? You have absolutely no clue who I am or how I feel.

You seem to suggest that punishing wrong doers is more important than saving lives, that someone dying in a car wreck is less important or tragic than someone dying in a terrorist attack.

Again, you were suggesting in your original post that terrorism presented a great threat to our American way of life, and I was saying that it actually didn't. That's all.

The problem here is that we are still running a racists society. We look at groups by their race, and not by the content of their political movement. We see jews as 'victims' and as 'liberals' whatever that means anymore. But israel is a monoethnic militant society which worships power, which is more or less our working definition of fascism.

If we want to define fascism by intent, which perhaps we should, since no one calls the japanese fascists anymore, or the s. koreans, but they do say it of the n. koreans, that under such a new definition, a whole slab of white supremacists will get dropped from the title, and some black power groups might get added. Which reminds me of another thing, just a curious question.

What has the nation of islam been up to? Does anyone hear from them? are they being profiled as suspected terrorists? Someone detaining Louis Farrahkhan at airports?

anyway, fascism doesn't imply that you're on a campaign of regional conquest (imho zion-america is on one), but austria is not on a campaign of regional conquest of europe, nor japan of asia.

I think if we're going to define fascist as an ideolgy of regional conquest, torture, massive depopulation, etc. we might have to bring out the term judeofascism.

Just the other day I watched a family of middle eastern people walking to the store ...the women[covered from head to toe in cloth] stayed 3 steps behind the men... I approached the men to ask why this was... from what I gathered the woman is a defilement and she is only the property of the man if he wishes and she was ever out ahead of the man then all kinds of rituals would incur to clean the sin(right about here my eyes glazed over cause I knew from reading other stuff what these people were all about)there was a few other explanations about their way of how women should be treated but I'm sure you can see where these people are at as far as a equality type society. If you don't know how Muslim's treat women then ask one he will tell you they are proud of it.

One more thing... they believe it not to be a sin to lie to any non-Muslim. SSSSssooo ...you can not believe any thing they say to non-Muslims.
Which can only lead one to believe they are liars bent only on world domination.

What in the world? "Psuedo logic?" It's not a matter of logic, it's a dang oversight. FMF, ya know, you're right. You're absolutely right. I was not thinking of our active duty members. I meant no insult to them. At all. The soldiers that post on this board were outside the context of my argument with kaneman.

A good friend of mine is in the Air Force. He just got his orders and shipped out last Monday for 7 months in the desert. But my friend and those folks on this board on active duty weren't the ones kaneman was attacking. He was attacking folks like me. When I said "any RWED forum member you can name," the forum members that he would name was implied. That was the context of my remarks.

My argument was focused on people like myself and Signy and Rue and other vocally anti-GWOT folks who specifically won't be going over there. My point was that folks who don't go over there won't be getting beheaded.

The core of kaneman's argument, as I understand it, is that we must do as the administration says, accept every abridgement of our rights, or face Islamo-fascist take over. I disagree.

Does context count for nothing anymore? The whole thrust of kaneman's rant was out of context ravings about what people like me believe based on his willful misunderstanding of our position; about how evil and stupid and naive and dangerous people like me are for not believing that Islamo-fascism is a credible threat to the American way of life. He wasn't talking about soldiers who post on this board and neither was I.

Again, I apologize if anyone got the impression that I was making a comment about any forum posters who are in the military. If any of you are reading this, I'm sorry. The world is in a lot of trouble and we all must make some very difficult decisions. I admire your courage and your faith and your willingness to put yourself at risk for your ideals. And I pray daily for an end to this war and your safe return home.

How about:

Perhaps if we left these people alone and didn't support oppressive Middle Eastern governments (as long as they keep the oil flowing) they might leave us alone in return.

OBL's main issue was US soldiers in their Holy Land. That and the US's unwavering support of Isreal. It is, after all, American bullets and bombs that are killing the Lebanese and Palestinian people. Even if we don't pull the trigger, we still are somewhat responsible.

Things are rarely black and white. There is often some truth in all sides of an argument.

Lastly, if we had minded our own business and not trained a generation of these people on how to kill in Afghanistan, we might not be in this position.

Good luck to your nephew FMF. Tell him to keep his head down and while they will likely not make it past the switchboard, he will be in my prayers.

i mean given the history of decietfulness from our own establishment, who really stands to gain from terrorism? we only encroach futher into the Muslim world and remove more American liberties under the guise of security; to be, it would seem our own establishment wins either way.

as others have said, Al-qaeda recieved major American funding, and had Osama listed as a CIA asset until only recently. we can prove he was even visited by CIA officials at a hospital in Dubia in '00, while he was wanted for the USS cole bombing. how are we honostly expected to believe Osama is the big bad boogy-man antichrist of America, when his own FAMILY is a friend of the Bushs?

Yes, the liquid explosives plot was thwarted by conventional anti-criminal procedures, not by starting WWIII in Iraq. Terrorism is the M.O. of the politicallly powerless. If these folks could have advanced their political causes by conventional means they absolutely would have. No legitimate government over there would support them. If we had continued to deal with terrorists as criminals they would to this day have no real political power.

As has been stated loudly and often, the Islamo-fascists want to bring down the West. But they can't do it on their own. No terrorist attack, no amount of terrorist attacks will do it. But if they can spark WWIII then the West might indeed be brought low.

I firmly believe, as I have stated previously, that al Qaeda and other groups cannot accomplish their stated goal of destroying the US. Not on their own. The biggest threat we face is that our leaders, in an effort to "protect" us, will change the country to something that would be the antithesis of what the founders intended.

These various terrorist groups are a threat. And there is no doubt in my mind that they would like to kill me. But the level of threat they pose to the survival of our country is negligible. And the level of threat they pose to me personally is somewhere less than getting struck by a bolt of lightning. Just because someone wants to do something doesn't mean they can.

However, and this is the part that really pisses me off, we're not even taking reasonable precautions. The sole extent of this administration's plan to protect our country is to send our military to engage in some domino-theorying in the Middle East (Wasn't the domino theory a bad thing? ion.html ) and I wonder how serious the Department of Homeland Security is about securing the homeland.

I don't want my government telling me to be afraid. Although, since I'm not one of those authoritarian followers who are prone to panicking easily, that message is probably not intended for me anyway. I do want my government investing in cutting-edge technology and implementing protocols to minimize the likelihood of another attack on US soil. And I don't see this administration doing that. What I do see this administration doing is hyping the fear so the masses fall into line and scream, "protect me, daddy."

This is nonsense. I'm sorry, but this is a pretty uninsightful look into the situation.

Most of 'them' actually would like very much us to leave their homeland, a few would prefer that we fight. This is because the extremists, Bin Laden et al, actually benefit from our presence.

This of it, if a group of americans were tremendously anti-semitic, it would help there cause greatly for israel and the jews to start behaving in an evil fashion. Check it out in any city, enrollment of youth into neonazi groups is skyrocketing. Why? Not because the nazis have evolved a better recruitment campeign, they're still on the old, "oh, please worship our mass murderer." No, it's because israel and the MSM are out of control, and they are the longest standing direct opposition to israel and the MSM.

Same applies to Bin Laden. He's been saying the US will invade the middle east, target civilians, torture children and steal oil. When we do that, it's a giant recruiting poster for Bin Laden.

It's not that the ragheads are a bunch of ninnies who are taunting america.
