There you go again, lying about what the GOP did, when in fact it was the Dems who lied and picked on a kid, used him for a photo op for purely political purposes, when the fact or the matter is that Bush wants to EXPAND the program, but not so much that it's step 1 toward Socialized Medicine.

Duh!!

The statement. You tell me why this shouldn't be allowed.

"They sure don't care about finding $200 billion to fight the illegal war in Iraq. Where are you going to get that money? Are you going to tell us lies like you're telling us today? Is that how you're going to fund the war? You don't have money to fund the war or children but you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the President's amusement."

So it's live and let live? Or should I say live and let the PKK kill?

These types of comparisons you make are called moral equivalences
Interestingly, I find the right wing the master of moral relativism, something that they always accuse "liberals" of doing. Killing someone for a "good cause" is better than killing someone for a "bad cause", killing 10,000 people by accident is better than killing 10,000 people on purpose, and a Congressman calling the President (in effect) a sociopath is worse than calling a brain-damaged kid a faker.

Once more with feeling:

BECAUSE THAT'S DIFFERENT!

Being accused of moral absolutism for a change. Because that's "different!"

Interestingly
Quote:

US government has been supporting PJAK, the Iranian branch of PKK. The head of the PKK militant arm, Murat Karayilan, in an interview with the Daily Telegraph claimed that US officers have regular meetings with the PKK in Northern Iraq. Karayilan said Kurdish guerrillas have launched a clandestine war in north-western Iran, ambushing Iranian troops with US and British support.

And that, of couse, is different.

I think he was was borderline during the whole statement. But he didn't cross the line until the end.

I watched it, which is a better way to get a sense of it then just reading it, and it seemed he got carried away with himself. Went a bit to far, then he had to back up. His willingness to do so coupled with the classy job he did in apologizing make me want to just let the whole thing drop.

He said it, he should not have said it (cause its aint so and its hurtful), he apologized (which seemed genuine) so its all good.

Its not like I'm calling for him to resign. I just think he was wrong to say it, especially where he said it. He wants to say it at a fund raiser or anti-war rally, sure I'll be mad, but I'd not really complain as much as this one.

I would have responded that it sounds like he's sharing talking points with Iran or Al Queda. Good thing the President's got more class then me.
