RENO, NEVADA – Ron Paul finished second in the Nevada Republican presidential caucuses today, defying recent polls that had the Texas congressman finishing in fourth, fifth or sixth place.

According to results reported on the Nevada GOP’s website, Congressman Paul placed second with 14percent, topping John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani.

“Ron Paul has once again topped multiple media-anointed ‘frontrunners’ with his poll-defying second place showing in Nevada,” said Ron Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “We’re in this race to win, and we’re going to battle for every delegate in this wide-open race for the Republican nomination.”

Funny that Dr Paul beat McCain in his home state.

Paul got six thousand votes Romney got twenty odd thousand. It's not close. If Paul wants to use this then he has to use the media exposure now to try and maintain momentum.

Ron Paul winning would be a big story. Ron Paul running and finishing a little above those who simply didn't bother to even show up...thats nothing.

The couple hundred folks who voted for John Edwards in Nevada carried more weight then all those voting for (Also) Ran Paul.

He now has the singular honor of rising from obscure non-entity to trivial footnote. I doubt he'll ever make a real breakthrough to be worthy of a blurb.
