Isn't that funny?

I remember driving when gas was 29-cents a gallon, and speed limits were 85 mph. Ancient history.

It's all part of the master plan by the private Federal reserve Bank that counterfeits all US "dollar bills" and keeps all IRS income taxes. Or did you think the 18-year Iraq War was for lowering gas prices?

That gas price is in one place in Southern California, and hardly indicative of average prices around the nation - although gas prices ARE on the rise.

Still, though, I have to ask: So what? What is it about gas prices going up that surprises people? Honestly, what is it? It's generally agreed on that there are a finite number of refineries available in the U.S., with NO plans to build any new ones (and you can thank your own town for that, because no matter where in the country you live, no town is lining up to build an oil refinery/ quite the opposite), but there is an INCREASING demand for oil & gas - most of that demand coming from the "developing" world, places such as India and China.

In a free-market trading sphere, a limited supply and an unlimited demand generally work to make prices go UP, correct? I mean, I could see being surprised and outraged that gas is expensive, if you suddenly woke up from a 45-year sleep, but the vast majority of us have known, literally FOR YEARS if not decades, that this was coming. Why do you think I drive a tiny, two-seat car - for the luxury amenities and smooth ride? I drive it because I will never enjoy paying $100 or more for a tank of gas, and I will forestall doing so for as long as possible.

Even at $5 a gallon, gas in the US tends to be cheaper than most other Western civilizations - at least the ones most of us would want to live in. Want truly cheap gas? Move to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, or Venezuela. Sorry, but I don't think simply invading them will necessarily get you cheap oil...
