I rather suspected as soon as those red light cameras went up, they'd start shorting the yellow.

There's an intersection on MD Rte2 near Jumpers Hole Road that's literally a death trap cause of this, between the brake locking, rear ending, slide smash accidents which occur all day, and the tire shredding debris left in their wake, by NO means could anyone possibly, ever, call that intersection safe.

This ain't about safety, it's about profit cause in all truth it's proven fact they REDUCE safety at the intersections they're installed at.
Quote:

"Instead, they increase crashes and injuries as drivers attempt to abruptly stop at camera intersections. If used in Florida, cameras could potentially create even worse outcomes due to the state’s high percent of elderly who are more likely to be injured or killed when a crash occurs."

And the yellow shorting just proves ever more that this was the point anyway, and without a doubt it is intentional...

Once is happenstance, Twice is coincidence... six times, that's Malice, plain and simple.

It cannot be said enough, those who do not learn from history, are doomed to endlessly repeat it

Oh yes, Maryland has a history of this sort of thing, just so you know.

Tale Of The 3-Second Yellow Light
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/06/12/eveningnews/main558431.shtml

The absolute WORST offender however was the intersection of Rte2 Ritchie Hwy and Furnace Branch Road from 1989-1992, possibly a bit longer than that.

The green light for Furnace Branch lasted 1.5 seconds only, and the yellow only 0.8 seconds.

YOU try getting through a busy intersection legally under those circumstances, especially if you are trying to make a left, as it's not even a six point signal.

Only way to do it was to go about 2 miles north on Ritchie and then turn left onto Rte3 Crain Hwy to Rte648 and turn left, then turn right back onto Rte2, a total of 4-5 miles extra, to avoid that mistimed light.

yea, I sincerely hate those cameras, and definitely agree they cause more accidents than they prevent

"Haha, mine is an evil laugh."
