Why did Palin want her dirt bag brother in law fired for the State Police? Turns out he's a crooked cop, he tazered his 10 year old son and threated to kill her father. And he's still on the force?!

In 2005, before Palin ran for office, the Palin family accused trooper Mike Wooten of drinking beer in his patrol car, illegally shooting a moose and firing a Taser at his 11-year-old stepson. Palin and her husband, Todd, also claimed Wooten threatened to kill Sarah Palin's father. Wooten, who hasn't returned numerous phone calls left by The Associated Press this week, was suspended over the allegations for five days in 2006 but still has his job.

To me- an understandable abuse of power on Palin's part, and as such, a non-issue for me (not meaning to sound all NeoCon here, just seems like personal business is all, Cops shooting mooses (meese?) irks me some).

I've often sat and wondered what the plural for moose is. Meese, Maggle, Mooses?

How is it an "understandable" abuse of power? Abuse of power is abuse of power.

The report says that he was suspended because of the allegations. Doesn't say they were true. Just coming through a nasty divorce, I don't believe any of it without unbiased proof.

Yeah, abuse is abuse, I just figger if it's gonna happen, save yer energy yellin' about it for when an innocent dude is targeted- there's too much abuse abouts to target it all.

Oh you KNOW that trooper's trash, c'mon. They suspend you if guilty up there, not for doing nothing.

Considering what policemen get away with without facing any sanction (case in point, the umpteen policemen in the UK who shot a tourist 9 times at point blank range then faked evidence to cover up their mistake), it seems a bit far-fetched to think the stuff mentioned above (if true) was a dismissable offence.

Although not directly related, I did recently see a PROPER use of the Taser from officers in New Stanton PA.

Apparently an Emu got loose and was causing a bit of traffic havoc on the PA turnpike, and having failed to corral or lasso it (where's one of them good ole boy sheriffs when you NEED him, eh ?) didn't want to have to shoot it, and resorted to the Taser as a less-lethal alternative.

Sadly, the bird didn't make it, probably heart failure from the extertion and the zap, but at least they tried, so credit where credit is due.

Right dangerous critters, them Emus... just ask Lawdogs last rookie partner.

the dirt bag ex-brother-in-law is immaterial to the abuse of power in question:
the innocent and decent Police Commissioner she DID fire because he couldn't legally reopen the 2 year old closed case against her dirt bag brother in law is the one who was abused,
and didn't deserve it.

We've had 8 long years of an Administration who has used their office to benefit themselves, their friends, Haliburton, oil companies....
and we don't need 4 years of the same!

It is time to put the government to work for the people,
not for the privileged few
