Or the taser victim was Mobbed up, and the Mob administered its own form of non-judicial punishment.

Why would a cop kill himself with somebody else's gun? Whose gun was it? Or was is his personal plant gun with serial numbers filed off?

Damn your quick PN... you got your hooks into AP Wire deep too, I presume ?

This smells like an honest fuckup, you ask me.

The cop in question went to the taser to subdue someone who was obviously gone gonzo, and did it without thinking, out of pure reflex because the taser has come to be the go-to thing to do in response to the slighest act of defiance.

I think he meant well, but his reflexive action in a crisis is what undid him, especially when he violated departmental policy in the doing.

Followed by the emotionally devastating "Oh Fuck!" moment when he realized he'd just killed a guy, as opposed to the usual police reaction of "So what, they're just a perp" - that strikes me as this officer being a more decent sort than the norm for this career.

And the reason he used someone else's weapon was because they took his badge and gun during the investigation.

He fucked up, is all - and the fact that unlike most police he had enough humanity to actually feel regret, guilt and sorrow for it in spite of the fact that everyone and their cousin knows the damn FOP would get him off just about scot free...

That says to me this was an honest fuckup, by a fairly decent guy, and all the more sorrowful that he took himself out while more callous and downright sadistic officers continue worse acts on an almost daily basis.

And yes, I am aware that he did not himself operate the Taser, but ordered another officer to do so - the fact that HE still felt responsible, and guilty for it speaks all I need to know.

I hope he finds peace in his afterlife of choice, but I wish he'd stuck around here instead, cause there's a real hefty shortage of police personnel that humane.

Kinda hard to use your own weapon when you were stripped of it.

It also said that he was in the Police Locker Room. My guess would be that he opened up some one's locker while they were in the shower or working out and took their weapon. Not likely that they will release who's weapon it was because it is most likely another Officer's.

This whole episode makes me sad. Sure the guy was crazy, sure he didn't deserve to die- but does the cop have to die as well?
