I have to say that for the past week or so I've been reading the threads in TRW since other threads have been a bit sleepy for a few weeks.
I've avoided TRW until now with the perception that it was a bitter place where both sides argued a lot, but I've been admiring the passion displayed by both sides lately and "friendly" debate going on now that the election is over. So now I'll add my 2 cents, or is that a nickle now?

You see I'm like most of the electorate in this country,,,squarely in the middle and I'm frankly disiullsioned with both political parties and chose to be Unaffiated.

Conservative fiscally (hey, my 401 K retirement savings are mainly in the stock market and I work in the financial industry, and taxes should be kept to a minimum), for a strong military (4 years active duty, 4 years Reserve), and am a spiritual Christian, yet I'm more than a bit Libertarian in my social views, I guess mainly because I'm a late boomer.

I judge people by the content of their character, not the color of their skin, sexual orientation (that should be a private for everyone) or any thing else. Everyone should have the chance for a good education and the opportunity to better themselves.

There are some that need extra help and it should be available. I'm the mother of a special needs young adult and I've had to battle insurance companies and the local education establishment for get help for her. She's not severely handicapped but needs a helping hand to reach her full potential and be a contributing, full member of society.

All though I didn't vote for him (but I did give some Democrats some bipartisan love-I vote for the person best qualified for the position) I'll give the President-Elect time to see what he does and if I disagree I'll do it respectfully, just like I do with the current President.

Oh, I do have a solution to the health insurance crisis and an idea for the Presidential pooch but that's another post

Welcome to the RWED NC....

I thought you were talking about the new season of MTV's The Real World....

I'll bet your daughter has a lot more going for her than most people think, especially if she isn't that bad off. My bro was labeled LD and special needs in the BS public school system, but now that he's all grown up he's found a living wage, and enough free time and money to allow him his hobbies and enough of the perks to make it all worth it. Just don't let her give up. Don't let her have a reason for thinking that is an option.

Thoughtful Post , NCBrowncoat...

Some Folk hereabouts give me enough concern , that I'd just as soon not ever meet them IRL...

Thankfully , I harbor no similar concerns about you...

By the by , your '2 Cents worth' is the equivalent of 50 Solid Dollars worth of Lawful Money , such as we used to have...

Send me a P-M , I've got something very important regarding your 401K that you'll likely want to strongly consider...

Thanks to both of you.

I just haven't seen too many "middle of the roaders" around here. It seems that both sides have their strong defenders and someone needed to speak up for us "conservative liberals" or "liberal conservatives" as a friend called us one day.

My daughter has Asparger's Syndrome, basically she's in that nether region between high functioning autism, ADHD and learning disabilities.

She's currently enrolled in the local community college in the web design program and does well in their small classes. We joke that she has the "ultimate geek syndrome" and I think that she'll be making more money than I do one day.

That's Awesome !

My belief is that we're all disabled , or none of us are !

I prefer to think of Folk as 'differently enabled' , and I know that you must , also , because that's what is closest to the Truth...

The experiences of the both of you bear that out...Don't they ?

If someone told me that I had U.G.S. , that would be a 'badge of Honor'...And , that's No Joke !

"Normal" is boring...I read that in an article when my daughter was first on her journey and I've come to believe it.

Reminds me of a bumper sticker I used to have on my car:

"Anything But Normal!"
