Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

Apologies for the recent thread where I argued against your obstinate lack of logic for a half dozen posts before realizing I'd overlooked a basic part of your message. It is I who ended up being obstinate and illogical.

With regrets,

--Anthony

Yup, I was in the same boat as you, Anthony.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, Kirk. We don't often agree, but on that issue, we're not far apart at all, when it's all said and done.

KIRKULES

It's very nice of you to apologize Anthony, but it's completely unnecessary. About half of the arguments I get into around here are a result of my inability to communicate properly. After rereading my post, it is clear to me how it could easily be misunderstood. My mind tends to try to mix ideas into one concept, but I am seldom then able to communicate that concept clearly. The only reason I responded negatively is your rapid use of the bigot/race card. Those words have no effect on me now because of their massive overuse, but you hear them so often around here it just gets tiring some times.

I'm a huge Firefly fan, but one of the main reasons I started posting here is to improve my written communication skills. I get pissy some times when people point out my illiteracy, but I appreciate it at the same time. Rue, Kwicko, Chrisisall and others have been very helpful in pointing out my errors, and I think they are less frequent now because of their good humored ridicule.

Ditto. I started posting here for that reason as well, and in the hopes that fervent debate would force me to examine my positions and beliefs with a critical eye.

And yes, Kirk, your communication skills HAVE gotten lots better.

Not so much. Maybe you're late to the party, but my eye is actually on the mend. I *was* legally blind in one eye, with nothing more than vague shapes and colors out of it, but now it's back to normal, at least for the time being. Thanks for your concern, though!

What's wrong with snark? I love snark! When snark is outlawed, only outlaws will be snarky!

No rules - just an observation.

Just for you, Kirk, since I think you might enjoy the mans commentary quite a bit, lemme introduce you to gunbunny legend Lawdog...

http://thelawdogfiles.blogspot.com/2008/11/au-contraire.html

He's got a whole blogfull of stuff, and is a pretty conservative and downright decent sorta fella.

Just make sure to put the soda down before actually reading his stuff, cause he's dead-bang funny in a laid back texan sorta way.
(<-Still ribbin him about pinning his badge to a novelty T-shirt of much debate)
http://thelawdogfiles.blogspot.com/2006/04/infamous-t-shirt.html

Besides being entertaining though, he's a pretty think-it-through kind of guy and has a verbal eloquence which might give you some lead-ins to better express your own arguments around here, something I know ya kinda struggle with to avoid lookin... "stupid".

Here's a hint tho - I tend to give folk who make an honest try a LOT of slack and way more benefit of the doubt than otherwise, and right now I think is the best possible time, if a bit late, for Right and Left to come together against the malicious pricks playing us off against each other for their own benefit.

So I'll give ya this much of the veritable word on it, you shoot the serve, and I'll set the volley - cause I'd like to see more perspective in discussions that's actually conservative to contrast certain... uhhh, other factors around here which discredit the whole damn slate with their own behavior.

And yeah, I know, what has the world come to if one is trusting in the mercy of a bad tempered anarchist - but it really is long past time we stopped letting other factors exploit the differences between people, many of which are in the grand scheme of life, simple, petty things, and unified in the cause of human betterment for all peoples, regardless of any factor but their humanity.
